Wotan758 Posted July 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2010 I understand that 2 buses connects Piraeus to central Athens, lines A40 and A46. Do they have stops near the cruise terminal. I'll be with MSC Opera. Are there any bus line from the cruise terminal to Piraeus Metro station?

itil4get09 Posted July 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2010 I understand that 2 buses connects Piraeus to central Athens, lines A40 and A46.Do they have stops near the cruise terminal. I'll be with MSC Opera. Are there any bus line from the cruise terminal to Piraeus Metro station? We were in Piraeus on NCL Gem in mid May and took bus #049 from Piraeus to Omonia Metro Station where we caught the Red Line to Acropolis (Direction: Aghios Dimitrios - Alexandros Panagoulis). Once you are out from the cruise ship terminal, walk past the taxi stands, take a left into a small car park area then onto a busy road, follow the busy road until you come to a pedestrian crossing (about 2-3 min walk), cross the busy road & you should see the small kiosk where you can buy tickets and the bus stop right next to the kiosk. We could only get the 1 Euro tickets, not the 3 Euros day passes. The 1 Euro ticket was good for 90 min. and as many rides as you like on buses & metro so we used the same ticket to get to Acropolis. From other CC’s posts, we were going to use bus #843 from the cruise ship terminal to Piraeus Metro Station and then metro to Acropolis but were told by the very kind kiosk owner that bus #049 would go directly to Acropolis. However we decided to ride the bus all the way until it terminated near Omonia Metro Station and changed to use metro to Acropolis Metro Station as we were not sure which part of Acropolis the bus would stop and we had planned to start from the Acropolis Metro Station. In the afternoon on our return to the ship, we were near Monastiraki Metro Station so we took the metro back to Piraeus and then bus #843 to cruise ship terminal. Hope you may find the above helpful.
