flcraigs5 Posted July 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Thinking about taking a cruise on Carnival Sensation but reviews seem to have been on the negative side in the past 6 months. Anybody out been on the Sensation recently and can give an honest review as to whether its worth it or not? Thanks
USNUZULOOSE Posted July 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Well me and DH were on it in 06 ( been a while ) it was our first cruise. I really liked her. I enjoyed the crew, food, everything. I have not read any recent reviews. But I would sail her again. We were on the glory in 09 and she is another great ship. Hope this is some help. KroozLov'r Posted July 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2010 We were on her for her maiden voyage, way back when. Everything was perfect, from the great food to the like-new condition of the ship! We were on the Inspiration last December.

flcraigs5 Posted July 12, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Thanks for all the information everyone :) Especially those who were just recently on the ship. I know you have to take reviews like a grain of salt cause everyone taste is different. I am pretty easy going so as long as the ship is clean and the food edible I will be happy LOL
MNmomof4 Posted July 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 12, 2010 I sailed the Sensation in October and everyone loved it.....especially the kids. We enjoyed the waterworks area and the minigolf.
Cruisin'Trooper Posted July 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 12, 2010 She has become our favorite "weekend getaway" ship. Clean, refurbished, and superior service.
Drew's Wife Posted July 12, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 12, 2010 We have sailed on The Sensation seven times. We love this little ship! She is by far our favorite, and Port Canaveral is in my opinion the best port to sail from. Our last cruise was this past Valentine's and we had a wonderful time. There is a review on here with some pictures of our Valentine cruise. If you have any questions, I would be glad to answer them if I can. You will have a wonderful time.:)
SANDYJABS Posted July 13, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 13, 2010 We were on Sensation in February and had a great time. Lots of pictures here and info: http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalSensation/index.htm Thank You for all the great PICS! We are sailing on the Sensation again for my B-Day in August. The last time we sailed her was before they added Waterworks etc... :D
winddawn Posted July 13, 2010 #11 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Thinking about taking a cruise on Carnival Sensation but reviews seem to have been on the negative side in the past 6 months. Anybody out been on the Sensation recently and can give an honest review as to whether its worth it or not? Thanks DH and I cruised Sensation about 2 weeks ago. We had a great time. Did the long weekend Nassau thing. We didn't get off the ship though because we've to Nassau a gillion times. DH enjoyed the lobster on cruise elegant night. We enjoyed the pools. They had a good band at the Lido--good mix of music including some reggae. Got my first ship on a stick playing trivia! Pina Coladas were great. I saw a lady win $7500 on a dollar slot in the casino! Go enjoy Sensation! You'll have a good time.

LPYRCRUISER Posted July 13, 2010 #13 Share Posted July 13, 2010 We have some friends who would never cruise with us and have consented to try a 3 day cruise. After some research I found Port Canaveral to be the most convenient. I was hesitant though after reading some reviews of the Sensation. I'm glad to hear positive things. I hate to scare these dear friends from cruising again. I feel it's my duty to addict as many people as I can!
JMeans13 Posted July 13, 2010 #14 Share Posted July 13, 2010 I went on the Sensation at the end of Oct '09 for a friend's b-day. It was my first cruise and it got me hooked and I am taking my next in less than 6 weeks! I know when I was researching I saw a lot of complaining about the overuse of the color purple on the ship. I honestly did not really notice it after boarding and I kinda liked all the glitz :p. We had the best room steward and dining staff. Even with rough seas the first night, I had no complaints. I think it is all what you make of it. Definitely go with an open mind and make your own opinions. What I have gathered from the bad reviews of any ship is that most with the poor reviews had something happen that they felt was not handled to their liking so they trash the whole trip. Have a great time!
MissShooter Posted July 13, 2010 #15 Share Posted July 13, 2010 I'm so glad there was a Sensation question here because we are sailing her on Aug. 19. I was reading on Carnival's website however, that there are ships that don't provide hair dryers in cabin and Sensation was NOT on the list of ships that do! I can't imagine a large cruise line NOT providing hair dryers though! Can someone verify for me that that do or don't provide them. I'd hate to have to bring one for nothing - those things are bulky as heck! Thanks! Doreen

laumicmah Posted July 13, 2010 #17 Share Posted July 13, 2010 We were on her in March. It was our first CCL cruise. Here's what we liked and didn't like: Liked:size was good and things were easy to find. OV cabin was nice and clean and a good size and steward was on top of things (after not finding him and not having ice until late the first day). Entire ship was clean. Even though it was a 3 day spring break cruise, it was not a wild/roudy party atmosphere. There was plenty to do. Loved the serenity deck. Buffet food was good. The water works looked really nice. Our MDR server was nice (though we didn't see much of her). Never noticed any kids acting up at all. Didn't like: MDR food wasn't great (some was pretty good and some was bad). We had late dining that took over 1.5 hours and had difficulty making it to any shows and just wanted to call it a night after dinner. The ship had a ton of motion/vibration (but seas were rough with bad weather). Bar staff was slow and not super friendly (liked the cigar bar, but it was slow too). There were terribly long lines at buffet. Even though it was cold/windy, the pool area was extremely packed on the sea day. All in all I'd give it a C+ to a B-. I was told, after my cruise, that your steward can bring you one.

MiMiof2 Posted July 13, 2010 #20 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Our first cruise was on Sensation Jan 2010. Loved it so much, was back on Feb 2010 :) No hairdryers, but we did have robes in the closet. For mini golf, you get the putters from the towel stand by the pool. We had 3 children (10,13,14) with us, and planned on eating dinner in the MDR once or twice. HOWEVER- Our server was awesome, the food was great - the kids chose to eat in the MDR EVERYnight ! TIP: When you first board, skip the buffet with long lines by the pool. Pass right by it and go to the back of the ship. No lines at that buffet, as people havent made it that far yet.
Sargent_Schultz Posted July 13, 2010 #21 Share Posted July 13, 2010 There ARE a limited number of hair dryers available on Carnival Sensation - first come, first served. Ask your cabin steward or at the purser's desk asap after boarding.
Mrs. Santos Posted July 13, 2010 #22 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Thanks for posting this. We're sailing on the Sensation on 8/29 and this will be our first cruise but I haven't been able to get much info except from Sargent Shultz. We're looking forward to it though. Oh, and for those concerned about hair dryers, I've read they're not great anyway.

Jimmylisa Posted July 13, 2010 #24 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Our first cruise September 2009 was on the Sensation, we feel in love and became addicted to cruiseing. My DH was in love with his surprise birthday present that we decided to do it again this October and was able to get the same cabin as the first time. Room steward was great and very friendly, DR staff was wonderful and very friendly. Even my BIL and SIL enjoyed themselves and they are not easy to please. Hope you have a great first cruise and enjoy the outside eating area behind the buffet. Lisa E.
