Maasdam - wireless internet access

I read all the cabins on Massdam have 802.11b wireless internet access. Has anyone tried them? What is the cost? I don't want to lug along the compter (for the sole purpose of CC updates) if the service is not good. Thanks!

Where did you read that? According to the vendor, Digital Seas, WIFI is available in the "Atrium area decks 7 & 8, Java Café, Internet Café, Explorer’s Lounge, Library, and Card Room."

I believe I read it somewhere on CC. It makes sense it would reach all over as my antenna has 300 foot reach (computer programmer here).

Perhaps in a cabin near the atrium. On the Volendam, for example, I could get a signal on the mid-ship stair landing halfway between the Upper Promenade & Verandah decks.

 

Besides the antenna, though, you have to take into consideration the large amount of metal work between you and the WAP. (former programmer here :rolleyes: http://www.nwfusion.com/columnists/kearns.html )

I'm not sure which cabin I'll be having, but it will be in steerage (H guarantee, but hopeful). Do you recall the cost for your service? If people would leave me alone at work long enough to make a phone call I could just check with ship's services. Don't they realize I have a trip to plan?
