there are irons in the laundry rooms (one on every deck on most ships) that usually work very well. i've always brought a travel iron with me and have never had any problems bringing it on.

On our first Princess cruise (Grand 1999), I brought a travel iron which I set out to cool after using, while we were at dinner. When we returned to the cabin, there was a note from the steward that he was instructed to "hold" potential fire hazzards until the last night, when it would be returned. He also left 3 coupons for free pressing, but from our more recent cruises, it seems that these little touches are gone, so I doubt that you can expect that perk anymore.
