Bar set up?

What exactly is a bar set up that you can order for your room? What does it include? How do you order it? Is it available only to suites or can oceanview rooms order it?

The bar setup is simply one or more liter bottles of liquor that you order in advance from NCL. No special glasses, mixers, fruit, etc are included.

 

You order it typically via email from the group events coordinator for your ship. They don't publish a list, but the list is somewhat limited and the prices may seem very high to you. (ie Mid range Vodka at $60) You simply ask for what you want and if that is available, they will tell you the price and you go from there.

 

Using the Pearl as an example, I think that the the email is groupeventPearl@ncl.com (substitute your ship's name for the 'Pearl' in that address)

I got a bottle of Absolut for $83. It was a full liter. I made 40+ drinks and still had some left at the end of 14 days. So, it was worth it for me.

We also thought it was worth the price. There is a $3 setup fee per bottle as well. I'm pretty sure you have to order it two weeks (or maybe just one, I can't remember) prior to sailing. Someone posted a recent list on here not too long ago, if you search you may be able to find it or just email and ask for what you want and they'll give you the price.

We have done it on several trips and have thought it was a good deal for us. Especially nice if you have a balcony for morning and late night. seems pricey up front but keeps overall bar bill lower.

Well, I too have just shot off an email. There is going to be 4 adults on this cruise and we all have a tendency to drink the same drinks. It sounds a little over priced but having seen our bar tabs on a normal Friday night I can only imagine when we don't have to worry about driving. :)

This is the price list for the bar setup as of June of this year. I've heard that some of the prices have gone up (don't know exactly which bottles, though). And, add a $3 service fee per bottle. You can order mixers (or bring your own) through room service or Butler, if you are in a suite.

When I asked last week groupeventsun the reply I got was that a liter of Southern Comfort was $83. I guess prices have really gone up!
