Safaga to Aswan

We did a trip somewhat the same as what you want in 2005. We were on the Seven Seas Voyager. They took all of the pax by bus to Luxor for an overnight from Safaga. When most of the pax went back to the ship @ 90 of us flew on a charter flight to Abul Simbal for the day and then on to Cairo for an overnight and a day around the Cairo area before returning by bus to join the ship in Port Siad. There was just so much to see that it was quite tiring, but well worth the trip. We booked the trip thru the ship and I would imagine that Silversea has something similar.

Hurghada airport is about 20 minutes' drive from Safaga. Egypt Air operates flights to Aswan, though if you only have a day, Abu Simbel may be a better choice. Unfortunately, AFAICT there are no direct flights from Hurghada to anywhere in Egypt except Cairo, which is of course in the wrong direction. Changing planes, and the uncertainty of flight timings, may rule this out if you're only in Safaga for a day or so. There are buses, but check journey times: the distances are significant.
