Lobster in MDR

There are many reasons to be excited about cruising on NCL. Lobster in the main dining rooms is not one of them. It is a tail of Caribbean spiny lobster, not New England/Canadian lobster with which you are familiar. It is a different species, smaller and without meaty claws. It is usually served by NCL with grouper or other fish. Spiny lobster can be very tasty (many South Florida residents "hunt" them during a strictly-controlled season), but my experience is that on NCL (not the Epic) it is served tough and bland. I found many other dishes on NCL to be much more enjoyable than the lobster entree. I feel certain that you will, too.

Thanks or the info. I am originally from Maine, where the best lobster comes from. The lobster you explained would be a BIG disappointment.

I believe on both cruises (East and West) the lobster was served on Thursday night. I didn't have any problems with it. It was a lobster tail & grouper dish served over top of green basil mashed potatoes that were surprisingly tasty with vegetables.
