JUST STARTED CRUISING Posted July 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2010 Hi there, We are considering booking the RSSC Navigator 33-night combo = leaving Vancouver 31 August 2011, going to Alaska for 12 nights and then doing the 21 Night Panama Canal departing San Francisco on 12 September 2011 and eventually ending up in New York. A long time to be on board! Is an upgrade from Cat D to Cat C (which includes butler service) worth it? The Cat D cabin is already quite pricy. What exactly will the butler service include? Is it worth an extra $1,500? RSSC brochures and most websites are a bit unclear as to the extent of the service. Thanks for any advice!
mutzy Posted July 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2010 we did voyager last yr to alaska and had a horizon suite with butler service- we booked the horizon suite for the views not for the butler service- it was nice to have the butler but i don't think he did much more than the normal cabin attendant would do- he did deliver an appitizer plate every afternoon and cked with us every day to see if we needed anything. since you are going to be on the ship for such a long 33 days it might be nice to have the butler service

SuitCaseBears Posted July 24, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2010 Check the room size.I believe on Navigator both cabins are the same size -in which case I don't think the Butler is worth it - you can get everything a butler does from a regular cabin attendant. The big "oh dear" is you have to ask the cabin attendant if you want a bottle of your favorite brandy in the cabin for a bed time sip, whereas with the Butler level, you can pre-order online before you board. Other than pre-ordering the room bottles, I didn't find much difference. But of course a lot depends on your butler and the cabin attendant. I find if you're really pleasant to the cabin attendants on Regent they will all bend over backwards for you. You're in for a huge treat either way.
