Either are excellent hotels!

HH on port but great location downtown.

Can watch your ship come in from room. No pool!

Privileges at Galvez.

Hilton on Gulf and great location.

Pool and beach in front.

This advice is right on the money!!! :)

Now I have a third hotel we are looking at

Tremont, Harbor House and Hilton at the Sea wall. Which one would you stay at. We have never been to Galveston, leaving on a ship end of March.

Booked a room at this hotel because it offered free parking and shuttle to the port. Also looking at harbor house. any recommendations?

We are booked at the Hilton in November for a B2B onthe Conquest. Our friends stayed there last year. Harbor House is near the port and you can watch the ships come & go. Parking is limited. HH is owned by the Galvez and they use their parking for overflow. HH sometimes requires a 2 night stay.

I believe all the hotels have a shuttle to the pier. You may need to stay 2 nights at the Hilton for the free parking, but all have great, comfortable rooms, and are a great way to start your vacation. All hotels are in walking distance to great restaurants.

If you stay on the seawall (Hilton, Galvez, San Luis), you can see the gulf and go for a walk and see how high up the waves must have been during Ike to do the damage it did. If you stay at the Tremont House, you can walk along the Strand and shop and/or enjoy great entertainment.

Harbor House is in walking distance to the pier.

There are cheaper places to stay on the island as well, and they have mixed reviews. You can't go wrong with any of the ones listed above.

The Lone Star Bike Rally is November 4-7th, 2010.

Island hotels are jamed packed and HH has been home base in past for rally.

Rally activities are all over the island.
