We are cruising on Equinox in June and I went ahead and bought the premium package. Based on your post and others as well.

DH is on the fence. Last night he asked if I ordered a drink that costs more than $12.00 do you pay the difference or? I couldn't give him an answer. I would assume the answer is no.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks!!!:)

Just returned from a 14-day cruise and my DH and I both had the premium alcohol package. The answer is no, if you order a drink costing over $12 you will pay the full price.

Before I took the purchase plunge I dug back into my past 2 invoices after sailing a 10 night Solstice & 10 night Equinox.

Findings: We frequented The Martini Bar a lot plus washed down the meals with a couple glasses of wine + a cappuccino , started the day with some AM Bloody Marys, popped a couple of beers with some burgers out by the Mast Grill, It adds up to say the least. (not even counting the casino consumption).

Liver was screaming on debark day. :D

Adding in the convenience I give it a big thumps up. :p

Just to let you all know I've just got back from the millennium after an 11 night cruise and I had the classic package. Their really isn't anything you can't have on this package apart from beer over $5 the only one on the menu was boddingtons. Even the Martinis in the martini bar are all available you just order the small ones and in fact thats a big enough size as you can try more that way lol. Great when you go ashore too for the bottled water. Hope this info helps I loved my package.

I never found a drink on any menu that came near $12

I didn't realise you could have the small Martinis on the Classic package. Are they smaller glasses or half measures/half full?

The Martinis are the only reason we're going for the Premium package

What about wine by the glass? I'm mainly a red wine drinker and I'm thinking of the classic package for our upcoming med cruise on Equinox. Is the list of prices at the beginning of this sticky still accurate, i.e. is there is enough selection of wine $8 and under? I've read a couple of posts saying prices for wine have gone up.

I too am interested to hear about the wine... and can you say whether the pices on the Excel spread sheet are the same today? Or the posted Celebrity prices?

I am waiting to buy (if I do) my package till we leave port so as to try to avoid the taxes.

Thx

Catherine

I assume a Grey Goose martini can be ordered with the Premium package? If so, are these the large glass martinis or the regular, smaller ones?

The martinis are served in the large glasses with the premium package and most have Grey Goose anyway. We also ordered GG in our Bloody Mary's. I think just about every premium liquor falls under the $12 cap (except the expensive brandys and cognacs).

Also, to the wine drinkers -- you will probably not be happy with the classic package if you like some of the better wines. We had the premium and still would have preferred some of the higher priced wine. If you don't care what is in your glass then go with the classic.

Thanks. Smaller glasses might not have been a bad idea , but since I've read that wine prices have increased, think we'd better stick to premium. :)

I'm sailing in 2 weeks. I'll try to remember to take a pic of the prices.

The premium package is well worth the money. I won't go again without it. The convenience of ordering whatever you want without mentally adding the charge to your acct put it over the top for us. I ended up drinking more water on this cruise than I have in the past simply because I could. We tried all the martinis almost. I am a wine drinker and would have been disappointed with the classic package. There wasn't a great selection of wines to start with and only one or two of each type (if I remember correctly) that would fit the classic pkg.

I don't see that Clamato juice is on any of the lists. Does anybody know whether this is available?

And for those who are wondering what that's all about, this might be mostly for Canadians, but anybody who has ever had a Caesar will never drink a Bloody Mary again.... ;) :)

Hi GITC:

I know they had clamato juice when we sailed Solstice in the Mediterranean in May 09.. they made the best Caesar martinis in the Martini Bar. We're looking forward to having them again on Equinox in less than five days (fingers crossed!).

I have ordered the 3 bottles of wine pkg...now I think I boo booed.

can I have them sent to our cabin , as I was expecting, or do I have to have it in the dining room??....

it says not for lounge or bar use.

and it won't let me choose which ones I wanted??

should I cancel it?

They are half size glasses. Not a problem for me if I liked it I just ordered another.

I enjoyed the Celebrity Vintage at dinner which is a BRUT sparkling wine

Sometimes i would go for a red, then I would have a SHIRAZ. The classic package worked well for me. Unless there is a particular drink you want that isn't included on this package this is the one to go for.

If you want to see the spirits etc included in this package, go to the Celebrity page where packages are offered and click the blue text where it says and MORE, it shows you the list of included drinks.

All the Martinis are available in the small glass, but you have to tell the barman you have the classic package and want small Martinis, or he will make the large ones automatically.

They did not have Clamato on our Summit sailing. Not sure what ship you are heading on. We brought a bottle of our own and a bottle of Zing Zang. Hubby likes to have bloody beers and spicy bloody marys as well as Ceasars.;)

Thanks slipslopslap-- We had the premium package last Feb on Eclipse because we wanted martini's. We will try the classic package on our transatlantic in October.

Just off the Constellation and they definitely had Clamato -- my husband discussed the Bloody Caesar with the bartender but didn't try it.
