Mellybelle Posted July 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2010 Hey there, We are headed out on the Valor in September and we are curious if Camp Carnival is open on days that we are in port. My mother-in-law and daughter will be staying on the ship while in Belize. Mother-in-law is going to the spa and was wondering if our daughter would be able to stay in Camp Carnival while she is in the spa.....the rest of us will be out snorkeling.... :) Does anyone know? Thanks!
mass02703 Posted July 27, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2010 yes, camp carnival is open on port days. They do ask that if a family member is on board that they take the child out of camp for lunch. This is just a request, as the camp remains open for those parents not on board.

I remember that was the staff's instructions about ten years ago: when you return back to the ship, you're supposed to retrieve your child. So, if your MIL wants to take advantage of the port day to use the spa, and you're bringing your child to CC, you shouldn't mention that. Make sure to read the materials you'll get that will explain it all (such as how far in advance you would have to sign up for any post-10 pm and in-port kidsitting). mcfam5 Posted July 27, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2010 Our experience has been that Camp Carnival is pretty low key during hours the ship is in port. Most of the activities are free-play, electronic gaming, etc. Our kids still love it! :)
Angeleyes1382 Posted July 27, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2010 On your first evening on board you will attend the Camp Carnival Registration and Orientation. At that time you will get a schedule of the week's activities and times. Once you have that your mother-in-law can use that to schedule her spa appointment.
