Changing PVP's

We are not that happy with the PVP we have been using....Seems to be very attentive until we booked our cruise and then was impossible to get in touch with. Never returned any calls or answered any of ours so we finally had to someone in customer service who was not a PVP to get our price drops. Now that our cruise is 9 months past she is suddenly calling us to try and get us to book another one. My question is how do we go about dropping the PVP we have and getting a different one?

Thanks for your help

I'm not sure about how to drop a PVP, but it may not really matter. I recently booked what will be my 10th cruise, going through the regular customer service number. He gave me a different 800 number and his extension, if I ever needed any help or advice for anything, and for referrals. I then asked him what the difference was between him and PVPs. He told me that people like him handle the incoming calls (for sales and information), and PVPs deal more with outgoing calls (although you can still call them directly). This may not be completely true, but it's what I was told. For your next cruise, call the customer service number to book. The person who gets your call will be thrilled to get the sale, and they'll be willing to help you with anything from that point on, knowing that they could then get more sales from you or your friends if they take good care of you.

why all the secrecy? let us all know in case we have a problem in the future.

No "secrecy", jeez. It's just a rather long, boring and involved tale as to how (and why) I ditched a crappy PVP. I didn't think it would interest anyone all that much. Sounds like someone needs a cruise, ROFLMBO. ;)

There's plenty of stuff posted that doesn't interest everyone but you could be helping more people than you know.

And I could always use a cruise.:)

Thanks, that's great info to know. I can't say I'm real happy with my PVP right now and was thinking about calling Carnival about a change. Thanks for clearing up some questions before I asked!!

I don't know if it's "allowed" but I'd love to hear if anyone has a great PVP that would be willing to take on another cruiser. Feel free to contact me at wclaytor at cox dot net. I apologize if I'm breaking some obsure rule somewhere (but isn't that what they're for:p).

I just call the 800 number each time and talk to whoever answers. If that does not take care of my need for the phone call. I call back and someone else will answer and I talk to them. I was surprised to hear that they actually have PVP’s in Colorado. I thought that they were all in Miami.

here's part of te obscure rule. :)

There shall be no third-party recommendation of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. General discussions regarding the TYPE of AGENCY to be used to purchase a cruise will be allowed, as long as no recommendations for any source of purchase are posted.

Touting of your personal cruise agent or cruise line "personal cruise consultant" (or any other venue by which you purchase a cruise) is not allowed on our message boards. Postings that contain "tell them John sent you" will be removed without notice.

This means you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information.

It also means you cannot post links to travel agencies, no matter what the specific reason.

Cruise Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" guideline without warning. Additional posts will result in permanent suspension of your posting privileges.

you can have mine.... his kids need diapers.

:eek:seriously, you can call the general number and get anyone to help you with a cruise. that's what i will do next time. my old pvp(who i was really pleased with) is no longer there and this new one keeps telling me how he needs money for this and that and if i book to please go through him cause he needs the sale. very unprofessional IMO.

Ok so the same thing happened to me today - I called main CCL 800 # and spoke to "John" yesterday for some general pricing/info, got his extension and was planning to call back and book later this week/early next. Today "Joe" called me back and said "John" could not make outgoing calls and had transferred my file to him. I was a little concerned it was a scam, so I called "Joe's" 800 # (different than John's) but was greeted by the same CCL recording. Glad to see confirmation from other posters that this is on the up and up.

Still I feel bad for John...
