georgegirl Posted July 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2010 I was wondering how long it takes to transfer from Hong Kong Airport to our ship. We have pre booked a transfer bus. I am unsure how far away the airport is? Thanks
Rassa Posted July 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2010 I was wondering how long it takes to transfer from Hong Kong Airport to our ship. We have pre booked a transfer bus. I am unsure how far away the airport is? Thanks I was there about 3 years ago and it took about 30 minutes from Kowloon. If you are on a transfer bus dropping people off at various places, it may take longer. We took a taxi from our hotel to the airport.
Twaincruisers Posted July 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2010 The old airport was near the east end of Kowloon and the landing at night was very interesting. However, the new airport is a considerable distance, on the west side of Lantau island. We docked in a freighter port on the west end of Hong Kong island (from where we could see Lantau), about a third the distance from Kowloon. It took us 20-30 minutes by ship transfer to get to Kowloon. If you are boarding your ship in Kowloon (we saw several there), it could take about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. kuldalai Posted July 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2010 Cruise boats generally depart from OCEAN TERMINAL in Kowloon on the mainland, and occasionally from CHINA MERCHANT WHARF (at Kennedy Town) on Hong Kong Island. Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is on Lantau Island and linked to Kowloon by road and rail, and to Hong Kong Island by rail . Coming by road from the Airport you will travel on a high quality Expressway passing over several very high and spectacular suspension bridges which link Lantau Island to Kowloon . If your cruise departs from OCEAN TERMINAL in Kowloon it will take you around 30 - 40 minutes to get there from the Airport, If you depart from CHINA MERCHANT WHARF (Kennedy Town) on Hong Kong Island then your road transport will also traverse a road tunnel under Victoria Harbour linking Kowloon to Hong Kong Island. In this case travel time from the Airport would be more like 60 minutes . Your cruise documents from Costa should indicate your departure point and what time boarding commences from , and last boarding time. If not get your TA to find out .
