elcaribe Posted February 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2005 Our family of five from Charlotte, NC are on the Opera 3/19 for our Spring Break. Kids are 23, 21 and 14 and have cruised once before to Eastern Carribean on Explorer of the Seas. We've cruised numerous times on Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Princess. We have tentatively arranged a private snorkel trip in Cozumel out to Palancar and Columbia Reef and have room on the boat for 3-4 more people if anyone is interested. westcruiser Posted February 11, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2005 My family will be on as well...2 kids aged 13 and 16. They are hoping for lots of teens. It is our first cruise too.
wardmav1 Posted February 11, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted February 11, 2005 My wife and I are in our mid 20's. Just wondering if we will have a young, old, or mixed ages. Since we go mid march I figure the crowd will be much younger than their average.

My grandparents (65 & 66) are taking me for my graduation present. I have cruised before on Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean. :)
wardmav1 Posted February 12, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted February 12, 2005 Does anyone have anything planned for any of the port days? (Besides Elcaribe's snorkeling trip in Cozumel.) We were thinking that we would like to go snorkeling in Grand Cayman and horseback riding or the spa in Rotan. Doesn't it seem weird that you can't pre-book any shore excursions offered through MSC, or at the very least view a list?

Doesn't it seem weird that you can't pre-book any shore excursions offered through MSC, or at the very least view a list? If you call up MSC, they will email/fax you a list of their excursions. The list will not include prices, but it's helpful. Let them know you are on the Opera cruise too, because they may send you ALL of their excursions worldwide. This is what we are thinking for excursions: Key West - just walk around the town...try some Key Lime Pie! Cozumel - Resort Diving class with a 2 tank dive afterwards or maybe take ElCaribe's offer Grand Cayman - Stingray City with Soto's Cruises or Captain Marvin's Roatan - ??? wardmav1 Posted February 13, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted February 13, 2005 We were thinking of using Captain Marvin's for Grand Cayman's stingray city also. Is Soto's a private company? Do you have the website for them?
sigsoho Posted February 13, 2005 #11 Share Posted February 13, 2005 Just booked with Captain Marvin's Half Day Excursion Today, 10 AM - 1 PM. Visit Coral Gardens, Barrier Reef, and of course Stingray City (Sandbar) Heard great things about both places, but wanted to do a little more snorkeling and Captain Marvin's offers that. http://www.captainmarvins.com http://www.sotoscruises.com

sigsoho Posted February 14, 2005 #13 Share Posted February 14, 2005 I'm from Texas and she is from Illinois. Think we are going with Sante Wellness Center for Roatan. What are you guys doing?
wardmav1 Posted February 14, 2005 Author #14 Share Posted February 14, 2005 The Sante Wellness Center sounds great. We are torn between that and horseback riding. Did you read the post "Don't let this happen to you-stranded in Rotan!"? If so, does it worry you at all?
sigsoho Posted February 15, 2005 #15 Share Posted February 15, 2005 I feel that if you pay attention and double check everything before you get ashore, you should be ok. Heck bring the daily with you and understand any time differences. I'm not worried. I think what happened to them was extremely unfortunate, but I don't think they ever mentioned having travel insurance as well.
