How is luggage handled when you park. Do you drop it off at some place with someone in your group watching it and then park the car and catch up with your luggage?

I am unsure if I want to take car service, but if it is a hassle with the luggage to park, then I will stick with the car service.

The vacation starts the second we leave the house. icon_smile.gif

After you park, its a short walk w/ your luggage to a shuttle stop. The shuttle bus transports you to the terminal. The ride is very short...you could even walk it if you really wanted to. At the terminal the porters will take your bags.

Just returned on 06/04 at Bayonne. The parking lot is huge so there will not be a problem parking. The shuttle buses are actually people shuttle buses and not airport style with sufficient room for all the luggage. We rode her to the terminal but that turned out to be only about 100 years, so we walked back. The pavement of the lot is in pretty bad shape but wheeled luggage still rolled on it. You definitely can use credit cards with the $12 per day charge collected in advance. Actually that makes it quite convenient to get out without having tons of people all trying to settle up at the same time. Cape Liberty is a new port of departure for RCI but an ole decrepit Army port. So have low expectations as to aesthetics and you won't be disappointed...but have no fear....RCI plans on spending a ton of money getting this port up to much higher standard.

I recently cruised out of Bayonne, and no1 really brought on their luggage. Carryons aren't meant to be that big ... throw a few things in the bag for the day and thats it.... luggage actually arrived to our room pretty quickly. We had it by dinnertime.

If you're one of those people that feels they need a suitcase with them as their carryon... I feel bad for the people that are around you on that shuttle bus! LoL I convinced my mom out of taking her small, wheeled luggage bag as her carryon... I was like "what are you thinking? seriously.." haha icon_rolleyes.gif

The simplistic suggestion to just drop off your luggage with the porters only works when it doesn't take 30-45 minutes to get around the building the first time .. as on 05/30.

At the end of the cruise, it was interesting to note that virtually no one bothered with the parking lot shuttle but just pulled or lugged their luggage to their cars. Point still remains .. the parking lot shuttles are not designed to handle both people and luggage .. so be prepared.
