Don Viajero Posted August 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2010 I'm traveling on Oceania in Feb arriving BA middle of the month. I'm looking for recommendation for apartment rental for approx two weeks in Palermo or other district. Suggestions?
pmacher61 Posted August 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2010 In the middle of Feb, Bs As will be hot and humid. Many small businesses and restaurants will be closed for vacation. Hotels and apt rentals should be readily available at off season prices. To locate a reliable temp apt rental agency use the search function at the Bs As forum of tripadvisor, for example, http://www.tripadvisor.com/SearchForums?ff=979&geo=312741&scope=2&q=apt+rental+agencies&s=+&x=12&y=8 There are quite a few agencies specializing in short term tourist rentals. Read about the caveats and recommendations. Don't be averse to negotiating. The barrio of Palermo has several distinct subdivisions, e.g. Palermo Soho, Chico, Viejo, Hollywood, each with a character of its own. Recoleta is pretty much all upscale. Bs As is a good walking city although the climate in Feb may discourage long exploratory outings on foot. Cabs in Bs As are relatively cheap and there are extensive bus and subte systems so getting around is easy. Accordingly, your choice of a temp home for a couple of weeks may be determined more by the desirability of the premises you can find within your budget than the exact location. pochito Posted August 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2010 I agree with previous posting, but when renting an appartment make sure that everything works fine such as Toilet, cable service, AC and lock, also make sure to ask for 2 sets of keys that way if for some reason you are locked out your partner will have a copy and you do not have to pay ripoff fees to a locksmith Good luck!
