Price Drop on Cruise but Choice Air Increase

We are traveling with friends to the Caribbean in Feb. 2011 on Celebrity's Eclipse. I noticed a price drop yesterday and called and had the amount credited.

When our friends did the same they discovered that the price drop had been applied by C; however the price of their Choice Air airfare had increased to within $10. of the cruise decrease. He called CC and they agreed to change the airfare back to the original price and were told this was a one time exception. Has anyone experienced this. We are all CC Elite Members.

Elite status would not matter. With Choice Air you pay for the airfare at the time you book Choice Air, so it would not make sense that the airfare would increase when you cash in on a price drop - the airfare was already paid in full. If you had traditional or custom air, I could see this occurring as these tickets are not purchase until some time after final payment is made. If your friends truly had Choice Air and not custom or traditional cruise air, some kind of misunderstanding or mistake likely occurred.

It always happens in the UK that, if you make a change to the booking [upgrade, price reduction, etc], the computer system automatically picks up the latest price for other elements [air, pre- or post-cruise, etc]. Any Cruise Credit also drops off the booking as well. They will be adjusted back again to your original price but it seems to take a great deal of effort and can take some time which can seem like a problem if you are approaching final payment date as we are this time. Still, it was worth it to get a Royal Suite at such a great price!

As mentioned previously, choice air is ticketed and paid when booked and is not linked to the cruise reservation. If you cancel the cruise and have choice air you still own the air tickets and may or may not get any money back. Cruise air is another animal. Again if the cruise fare goes down, cruise air should not go up UNLESS there was some kind of special cruise plus air package price.
