St Johns any nearby parks to experience nature?

We would like to spend some of our day exploring the nature surrounding St Johns. Can anyone suggest a nice park that we can do some hiking?

 

We will not be renting a car so wonder about public transportation or something close so we can take a taxi.

If your stop is Saint John, New Brunswick - I suggest hiking along the coastline at "Irving Nature Park" - you will need to cab it.

If you are stopping in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador - we hiked Signal Hill and it was breathtaking.

it's approx. 7 miles from cruise ship. I expect taxi would be in the $15-16 range. There is a payphone at park entrance to dial 1-800 number for a taxi back as taxis don't congregate there.
