Epic Scavenger Hunt?

Since we will be traveling with a group when we get married on the Epic in January, I have been trying to come up with some fun optional activities and get togethers for our group to participate in throughout the week - especially during Sea Days.

One idea that was suggested to me was coming up with an Epic Scavenger Hunt - sounded like it could be fun - so I thought I would see if any fellow CC-ers (especially those who have already been on the ship) have any ideas that I could use on the Hunt.

I would be happy to post it with these ideas when it is done for those of you who are also travelling in groups, with kids, or that would just enjoy...

When we were on a prior cruise, they did a photo scavenger hunt. ie, take a picture with a bald man, take a picture of someone in a bikini, etc... NCL came up with the items for the teens to do. I will ask my kids if they remember what the items were, or see if they have anything like it on our upcoming cruise.

Depending on how many cabins and types you cvould have your own room crawl. Photo hunts can be things like

1. Take pic of someone in the bowl slide section.

2. Take pic of kid in Spider Web.

3. Take pic of Main Theater during show (no flash allowed)

4. Take pic of Fav Bar Tender and get his/her signature.

5. Take pic of Capt

6. Take pic of someone bowling

7. Take pic of your fav drink

8. Take pic of pic on big screen tv

9. Take pic of bride and groom together

10. take night shot of Aqua Park area.

Recently we did a photo scavenger hunt. We had three teams of three. Here are some of the ideas we used. You could certainly tweak them to make them more unique to the EPIC.

1. Photo of a celebrity look-alike

2. Photo of at least one team member shooting hoops

3. Photo of at least one team member and a pirate

4. Photo of our entire group with our waiter

5. Photo of at least one team member posing with a totally different group or family

6. Photo of at least two team members dancing by the pool the afternoon of Sail Away

7. Photo of someone who had their hair braided in one of our ports of call

8. Photo of something “breathtaking”

9. Photo of at least two team members at midnight – a clock must be visible in the photo

10. Photo of your entire team with the ship’s captain

11. Photo of all three team members and someone from Trinidad (or substitute other countries for each team)

12. Photo of our entire group with the Miami skyline in the background

13. Photo of something “bubbly”

14. Photo depicting “What the heck is that???”

15. Photo of your entire team with the Cruise Director

16. Photo of your team showing your reflection in something other than a mirror

17. Photo of a team member posing with someone wearing a t-shirt or hat from her home state (could also include sports teams from that state)

Have fun!

Scavenger hunts can be alot of fun! I like the idea of taking digital photos of the items rather than ransacking your cabin or areas of the ship. I think it might be a little more courteous. However, pulling physical items out of bag has a more excitement to it. :p

Here are some ideas for phyiscal items if that is what you are looking for (you could photograph them too):

Menu from the Noodle Bar (there are pads of them on the bar and you can easily rip one off)

Chopsticks (Noodle Bar, Shanghai's, Wasabi)

NCL coin (from the token machines in the casino or the coin pushing machines)

Map or Ship Daily

Wooden coffee stirrer

Cloth napkin

Knife, fork or spoon

Sugar or sweetener packet

Wafer Cone (Garden Cafe - out all day and night once breakfast is over)

Piece of bread (also out all day at Garden Cafe)

Bottle opener (little blue ones are given at the outside bars for opening purchased beer)

Empty beer bucket (also poolside, plastic bucket to keep beers cold)

NCL robe or blue beach towel (in room)

Various tolietries items that people would usually bring with them

Articles of clothing

Paper laundry bag or laundry ticket provided in your room

Room Service Menu

Colored tissue (for those that don't know...the last few tissues in the bottom of the box are colored to let housekeeping know that the box needs to be changed)

Match or Matchbook

Receipt

NCL/Epic pen

Shore excursion brochure from the excursion desk (or the form you fill out to book an excursion)

If I think of something else I will come back to post. I am trying to think of things that would be easy to take from a variety of locations on the ship.

we will have quite a large group (27) and counting for our 50th anniversary cruise in April 2011, so this scavenger hunt idea appeals to me. I have saved your list, and hope people who have been on the ship would add something to scavenge from every little nook and cranny of the ship. I do like the idea of pictures too.

While a great idea, keep in mind the #1 "complaint" about the Epic is there is not enough time to everything you want to do /see/explore in only 3 sea days! Epic has one of the largest repeat guest counts because of this. Perhaps you tie the end of such an activity to everyone meeting for bowling in O'Sheehans or at the water slides or at rock climbing wall or at a show. This way folks who may want to pass on a scavenger hunt can still participate as part of the group & enjoy something unique to the ship. Just an idea- naturally/ of course you know your guests best. Congrats on your wedding & enjoy your trip!
