Copenhagen Hotels with air conditioning

After comparing location and price for the hotels with air conditioning, we have decided on the Imperial Hotel. Has anyone on this board stayed there while in Copenhagen? I have also posted this same question on the Europe/Baltic board.

We've stayed at the Imperial and although the air conditioning was adequate, it was not up to USA standards (very little is in Europe).

The Grill Room at the Imperial is extraordinary, however, and the their Concierge can set you up with a deluxe visit to Tivoli that should not be missed. The wine pairings were spectacular.

So much so that we did not do many rides in the afternoon, but the ones that we did were a heck of a lot of fun!

Jim & Stan, thank you for your reply. I assume you would recommend staying here then. We definitely plan to visit Tivoli and we will make sure we have some of their wine before, too!:D

Yorkiemomjn-

We will give the Imperial a qualified thumbs up, with the following caveats:

#1) The elevators are VERY tiny (to the point where you may have to make several trips, just to get your luggage up to the room). If anybody is claustrophobic, forget it.

#2) If you have any issues with the AC in the room that you are assigned, you must insist that they put you into a new room immediately!

Don't let them fiddle with sending a mechanic up.

I stayed at a hotel in Paris that had extremely small elevators. They were so small that only one person and one piece of luggage could get in at a time! We are from Texas and because it is sooo hot here, we are used to 'good' air conditioning, so I will definitely insist being moved if the air is not working! Thank you for the tips!:)

We just returned a week ago from Copenhagen, spent five nights at the Marriott, recommend it highly, didn't see another hotel I'd prefer. John.

Thanks John. We have booked the Imperial, but have read so many good reports about the Marriott, we might reconsider. The only negatives I have read are about the location. What is your opinion about that? We like to walk.

We stayed at the Marriott for three nights before our August 5 cruise. We loved the location-walked everywhere. The location on the water is great. Tivoli and Stroget are about a 10 minute walk, Nyhavn is about a 20 minute walk along the water. We asked for a waterside room. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was quiet and had great views. When we checked in we opted to upgrade to executive level (about $35). It included internet service, a deluxe breakfast in the executive lounge, and in the evening open bar and a great spread of appetizers, hot dishes and sweets. It's an excellent deal in a very expensive city. We would definitely stay at the Marriott again.
