PatMan329 Posted February 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2005 Hi, I've been reading these boards for months now and just decided on my first cruise. It will be a Western Caribbean on the Splendour out of Tampa. I'm going for the Superior Balcony Stateroom - D1 I need to confirm and select a cabin and was wondering if any cruise veteran's out there have a recommendation. All the cabins are on the deck 7, if that makes a difference. I've heard that aft is better than forward, but are there any recommendation for a specific cabin? Why? Thanks, Patman
JeepLadyLtd Posted February 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2005 We were on the Splendour 2 years ago, we selected a cabin on deck 7 midship portside. The middle of the ship rides the smoothest. We hardly felt any motion at all. In the front you will feel all the dips and rolls. In the aft you feel vibrations. Although some of our cruise critic friends had an aft cabin and loved it. The cabins were just refurbished 2 years ago and ours was very nice and fresh. Our cabin was about 2 doors away from the card room and right by the elevators. Hope this helps you make to decide.
PatMan329 Posted February 13, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 13, 2005 Were you on the Western or Eastern itinerary? I'm going on the Western. Is port or starboard better for the views? Arriving in port?
vijoge Posted February 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2005 I would book 7132 or 7630. Of course this is my opinion only and only you can decide which cabin is best for you. I much prefer a cabin on the stern on the Vision class ships. I haven't noticed the much-talked about vibration or motion. I love the big balcony and the view! It's a personal decision. JeepLadyLtd Posted February 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2005 Hi Patman, I think we had cabin 7052...Any of the cabins right around that cabin are nice if you look at the deck plan you will see you are right near the elevators and right at midship. Also it was a quad if you need the extra bed. We did a 10 day Western Carribbean. We stopped in Roatan, Montego Bay, Grand Caymans, Cozumel and Key West. We left out of Galveston, Tx. it was a very nice cruise I think we had a total of 4 sea days. 2 on the way to the ports and 2 on the way back to Texas. I just like port side that's just me. I don't think it really matters much because the ship pulling into the ports the captain will decide if he wants to pull in or back in. I guess it depends on his mood and the condiction that day. As far as seeing land what you miss 1 way you will see the other way. Hope this helps. Happy cruising. Marsha:)
