SISer Posted August 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2010 None of the shore excursion Carnival offer soudn interesting, am I making a mistake not taking a shore excursion in St Kitts? Thinking of skipping a shore excurision and wondering if there is anything within walking distance of the cruise pier. Maybe for a little shopping, sightseeing etc. Thank you. WaggesAZ Posted August 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2010 Just my 2 cents, but we loved this island, it has a lot of beauty. The beach that we went to Cockeshell Beach. It wasn't the most beautiful beach, and the surf was rough that day, but we still enjoyed it. We also went to the Caribelle Batik & Romney Manor-BEAUTIFUL grounds & cute monkeys. Then on to Brimstone Hill Fortress, continued on to see the black rocks where the Atlantic & Caribbean Sea meet. Then to the beach. At the end of the day, our tour guide (Rosie was fabulous-google Rose & Jim's Taxi-$48 p/p-$41 if 4 or more) dropped us off front of the square. You could easily walk to this area, there is a lot of shops (Beware of the creepy guys who try to rip you off by making you pay for pictures with their diapered monkeys) and it was a lot of fun for us. Good luck with your choice, but if it isn't about money, I would do more than go to the town square. There certainly is a lot to see or do there. Good luck with your decision and safe travels to you! :)

Another tour that might interest you is Royston Tours he also takes you over to Cockeshell Beach and includes lunch and drinks for $30.00 - $35.00. Depends on your group size. For a family of 2 adults and 3 children he quoted us $30.00.

busybusy23 Posted August 21, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 21, 2010 We were trying to book a tour with Roystons but he was out of the Island when we were there. He recommended his cousin Ashton and we had such a wonderful day in St-Kitt. Had been there before but never experienced what we did with Ashton. He brought us everywhere for 8 hours just our family of 5 in an air conditioned van. He gave us a tour with history and drove us all around the island. We went to Romney Manor, Volcano area, tropical forest (BEAUTIFUL !!!!!) - we saw a freshwater lobster, we ate fresh almonds, we saw monkeys - WE LOVED IT !!!! We drove some more around the Island and spent a 2 hours at Cockleshell beach. Snorkeling is very good. We saw where atlantic and carribean met. We ate all kinds of local fruits that we bought on the way. It was EXCELLENT tour ! We loved St-Kitt. Ashton e-mail does not work yet so you need to contact Royston to book him. They work together. It was truely the highlight of our vacation. When we go back, we will go with Ashton again. He is really a fine man and we had the best day in his company !!! Go with Ashton !!!! dcikon2 Posted August 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2010 We shopped a little at Town Square and then took a taxi to Cockelshell Beach. We spent the day on the beach. We didn't want to spend a lot of time riding around in a van or taxi.
