Caribbean weather in December

We are doing a New Years Cruise and it goes to the Western Caribbean. It looks like it will be in the 80's for the weather. Has anyone gone during this time? Were you comfortable in shorts, t-shirts and sundresses?

I've been on a zillion cruises to the Caribbean and many of them in november and december.

They have summer weather practically all year round so you can be very comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt all day long. :) You can also go to breakfast and lunch in the dining room wearing shorts, but NOT for dining in the evening. You'll have a great time on a New Years cruise. I've only done one of them, but it was a blast. Have fun??? :rolleyes:

I've cruised in December before and it was still plenty hot. The Caribbean sun is relentless.

Plan on the weather being warm in December. Mid 80's and then it feels hotter once you stand in the sun. But at night it does cool down a bit so you may want to bring a sweater along.

We've cruised in December 4 times - a little cool the first night and the last night, just a light jacket needed - then hot the rest of the time.

We cruised in December (out of Galveston) and the weather was awesome. The first night was pretty cool, but once we got farther south it was just perfect.

 

One tip...if you put your luggage outside your door when returning to your US port, remember to keep something warm out. Lots of passengers forgot that it was colder at home and were running around underdressed until they could find their luggage. :D

Beach and water temps are excellent. You will likely need a jacket or sweater if you want to be out on deck at night for a movie or just sitting around because there is always movement of sea air on deck. You'll still need sunscreen in the sun because it is much stronger than we are used to at that time of year, even folks from Florida.

What cruise did you book? We are going on the Triumph on December 27th for a New Years cruise:D We have a roll call started;)
