ABCs of Epic

Recommended Posts

Per another CCers suggestion, I decided to make an ABCs on Epic for my group. It is going to include tips and tricks - some about cruising in general and hopefully most about the Epic specifically. I will definitely post the full list once complete for others to use.

I am having a hard time deciding what to write for the following letters and thought I would see if anyone else had an idea:

J, K, M, U, W, Z

Just to give you an idea, here are some examples of what I have so far:

F is for Fitness Center and Spa! If you are planning on purchasing a spa pass, making an appointment for a spa service or buying a specialty fitness class package, plan on visiting the Pulse Fitness Center or Mandara Spa fairly quickly on Embarkation Day. The classes and appointments book up rather quickly. They also only sell a limited number of spa passes each week. Go early or you may be disappointed!

N is for Nausea! If you begin to feel nauseous, the front desk will provide you with free seasickness meds. However, sea sickness is always easier to prevent than it is to cure. We recommend that you look into prevention options before leaving for the cruise. The most common are Medicines (Dramamine/Bonine/Scopolamine Patches), Wrist Bands and Ginger Capsules. Here are some other tips: Stay on deck in the fresh air, take deep breaths and drink plenty of water, keep something in your stomach, take first round of medications prior to boarding the ship.

Y is for Yum! Here are some ideas on where to find delicious snacks on board: Shakers Martini Lounge has Oriental Mix on the tables, the Casino offers a small continental breakfast, Pretzel Balls are a "can't miss" item that can be found in the Garden Cafe, the Atrium Bar offers free desserts/pastries/sandwiches/salads, the Garden Cafe offers late night snacks after 10pm such as egg rolls/pigs in a blanket/pizza/nachos

Ginger Capsules.......did thewm for 3 days before my last voyage, still got crunked.....out....I will also add if you drik lots fo water, stay out of the sun o the 1st day - a bit also and DO NOT gang-load with alcohol..that may assit in the prevention of feeling illy-willy on a cruise.

Yet, my Ginger Capsule, did ada.

ROFL! I couldn't afree more though the Regee band by the pool did a sufficient job butchering John Denver's "Country Roads". I get it that you're gonna have an accent but at least know what the words are before you try to sing them. Sheesh!

I would change that N to No Nausea and maybe add at the beginning that While seasickness is rare........ Don't scare any newbie cruisers in your group. Also you might want to add to go slow or avoid alcoholic drinks the first day until your body adjusts to the motion. This is something I always do, every cruise.

Wishing you all the best on your wedding! We had my daughter's wedding at sea 3 1/2 years ago and it was wonderful.! The family loved it so much (after many complaints, thinking they wouldn't) that we are now discussing a 5 year anniversary family and friends cruise to get everyone back together again.:D

How about W- Wasabi - Sushi Bar, Sake Bar and Teppanyaki all in one! Best sushi I have had in a LONG time at sea or on land. Did not do Teppan this time, but it is the largest at sea!

Note, I recommend the two combination plates! They were awesome, two rolls and two 4 piece sashimi for about $8... we also got miso soup free and then would order another roll to split (Red Hokkaido is out of this world) Then be sure to ask for the Green Tea ice cream (and I do not even like green tea).. they don't seem to advertise it, but it is available (probably from the Teppan) and there is no charge. I believe you can get coconut too.

~Intrepid <-- could use a roll or two now!
