Still another 7 Mile Beach question

Once we're off the tender will there be taxi's/vans waiting for beach drop offs.

Are the fares governed or does each one set their own price? Not looking for beach amenities just a few hours in the water then back to the ship! Also, is it true you can access the beach from any hotel along the strip of beach without admission cost? Any recommendations?

Taxis will be lined up. Taxis are shared rides, typically in large passenger vans. The driver will not leave until the van is full. Fares are per person to the various beach spots - typically around US$5 each way per person.

The beach itself is crown property, belonging the Queen of England, and open to the public without admission charge from the edge of the water to the mean high water mark. That is basically the area of sand that gets wet from tidal movement on a typical day. The rest of the sand higher up on the beach is private property. Almost all of the sandy area of the beach lies above the mean high water mark and is private property.

Hotels can restrict use of beach facilities (chairs, umbrellas, showers, restrooms, beach towels, etc...) to their guests and can refuse you permission to lay down your own towel on their private property. They can refuse you permission to cross their property from the road down the the edge of the water where the crown property begins.

I was in Grand Cayman last week. We had planned to take a bus to 7 mile beach ($2.50 per person). There were plenty of taxis as soon as we got off the ship. When we got out to the street in front of the port we decided to take a taxi as the driver was willing to negotate on the price. He took us to 7 mile beach for $3 per person. He arranged a time to pick us up and was waiting for us when we left the beach. We went to Royal Palms. It was very nice. There is no entry fee. You can rent a chair for $7 or just throw down a towel and swim. The restrooms were very clean and the Reef Grill had very good (and reasonable) food and drinks.
