PIGBELK ... You lost me at " my wife and 2 year old daughter ".......sounds like the 2 best things in the world will be right beside you, yet you are concerned that you won't enjoy it ????

To me that's like saying I just won a billion dollars...but I'm upset I have to go to the bank to deposit it....

Just my 2 cents ...Bob

My wife, 2 year old daughter and myself are booked and paid in full for a double back to back eastern/western caribbean cruise on NCL's Epic. I wish i didn't have so much to lose seeing i paid in full for both the cruise and the airfare to Miami from Boston roundtrip. I wish i could get my money back. I don't even want to go anymore. Maybe I will just hibernate in my room or on the balcony and order room service in order to avoid being aggrevated by all the negativity I will be expecting to see upon immediately boarding the vessel. What a disappointment. I am cruising on the 2 week repo on the NCL Spirit just 1 month before the Epic and the horror stories and bad reviews are just as bad, if not worse. Live and learn and just try to make the best of it my wife tells me. I guess we will have the opportunity to judge for ourselves and hopefully we can do it with an open mind after reading all this.

I got off this magnificent ship on Saturday. It was great. Were there a few things that could have been larger, better, etc? Yes. Did I let that or the itinerary change ruin my week. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!!

We ate well in both the free, pay and CY venues. Good meats, fresh breads and pastries, always available wings, fish and chips, chicken pot pie and fish and chips. We enjoyed free entertainment all over the ship.

As vince b said smoking is a issue - We got around the smoke in the casino by always taking the forward elevators. Never noticed smoke anywhere else except in the CY.

We met friendly staff all over (I can count on one hand the number of staff we passed in the hallway that did not greet us). We met people all over the ship that were kind and friendly.

While others did not, we loved our Penthouse suite and the position of the bed allowed us to watch the stars from the bed. We got used to the toilet after the first day and never gave it another thought. Our M&G had close to 100 people attend as well as the Captain, Hotel Director, CD and F&B manager.

If I let negative people and information rule my life, I would stay in my home and never come out. I don't. I get out there and experience life. I am a glass half full person and always look for a way to fill up the glass. Go on the cruise with an open mind and enjoy. I have sailed most of them - RCCL, Carnival, Celebrity, Princess etc and the negative reviews on all of them are published daily on these boards. All of them fill up their ships each weekthough and set sail. Be on one of them.

Thanks vince b for your review.

Don't stress - we're jut off the Epic 8/28 cruise and loved it. Heard very little negative comments about anything - people seemed to be having a great time. Loved the restaurant choices, varied and fun entertainment, very approachable NCL staff, our stern aft ba stateroom, two for one martinis :) Think if the gaming tables were moved out of the center aisleway of the casino it would help the smoke situation. We don't smoke but will sail Epic again and next time (after retirement next year) it will be a back to back. There's a lot to do on the ship that we didn't have time for.

We've also been on the Spirit and while she's a totally different ship loved her too. She has a great childrens pool area.

Enjoy both your cruises.

Maybe it's just me, but I tend to read all the reviews and take both the positives and the negatives with a grain of salt. What pleases one person will upset another and vice versa. For instance, I could care less about the kids area as I am not traveling with kids. It doesn't impact my trip one way or the other. So, people have said WONDERFUL things about Recess, and I just ignore those parts of the review. Food is very personal. What tastes good to one person is disgusting to another. They can't please everyone in one place which is why there are so many to choose from! :D

I personally don't like cruise ship toilets at all. I don't care where they are, the noise bothers me. BUT, it is what it is, and they are designed as such for a reason. I just deal with it.

Your cruise will be what you make of it so I suggest you walk aboard with a clear mind and make your own observations. Just take the reviews as things to avoid/enjoy depending what your preferences are!

I've sailed on 13 NCL cruises and numerous other cruises on other lines. Each one was wonderful in it's own way and had some problems-all but one minor. Your vacation is what you make it. Don't get upset over small annoyances and you will enjoy all the great things available all around you.

I've sailed the Spirit three times. She is a beautiful ship, great crew. I can't think of anything negative to say about this wonderful ship.

Enjoy both your cruises and especially with your family. Children grow up so quickly. Enjoy your child-she will love cruising!
