longtimecruiser Posted September 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2010 Some of you recent Veendam cruisers may be able to help . How much does it cost to park at the pier for a week? I'm sailing in October and trying to weigh my options as to how I'm getting to New York. Adele

GrammieK Posted September 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2010 When we went out of NY in May on the Veendam it was about $225.00 or the week. Hope that helps. I know there is a website (NY Port Authority??) that will give you the exact figures. Enjoy!

longtimecruiser Posted September 1, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted September 1, 2010 Thank you all very much for your prompt replies. Driving and parking will be the better way to go than taking the train. Adele
DFD1 Posted September 1, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2010 Interesting information. Thanks. Parking seems to be about twice as much as Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. We sail from New York October 3, but fortunately we're flying in. The flight round trip cost less than the parking would cost. Go figure!
tbowen Posted September 1, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 1, 2010 We took the bus service down and had a great experience. There is one that runs from Albany NY and another from Boston with pick ups along the way. There might be other routes. Our cost was $80 per person but it was well worth it. Our "cruise" started a 7AM when we loaded our luggage onto the bus. Booked it via the cruise line but others contaced the bus line directly. TomTraveler Posted September 1, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 1, 2010 For alternative parking near the pier, see the "Manhattan Icon Parking" thread on the "East Coast Departures" board. Whatever you do, enjoy the cruise.

Luvmesomeme Posted September 2, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 2, 2010 For alternative parking near the pier, see the "Manhattan Icon Parking" thread on the "East Coast Departures" board. Whatever you do, enjoy the cruise. I have been struggling with how to get to the pier. I live in NJ and really like the idea of being independent and not relying on anyone to drop me off or pick me up. I also have been struggling with the price of the parking at the terminal. I went to the site listed and there was a coupon for $16 per day. I reserved a spot for $112 for the week.
