bluenoser2 Posted September 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We want to rent a car after the cruise to get us to the airport. Dream is scheduled to dock at 8:00 a.m. and our flight is 2:00 in the afternoon (Orlando). We're thinking of using Dollar Rental Car, and wonder how the service is, and how reliable the shuttle would be. How crowded and impossible would it be for the driver to go, get the car, and get back to retrieve the rest of us and our luggage? I see lots of people renting cars from the airport TO the port, but haven't seen much on the reverse. Have you done it? Does it work? Thanks for your help! We do it every cruise...go to rentalcarmomma.com and use their Budget Rental code! We rented a car for both before and after for less the $30 each rental! you will find the shuttle when you come off the ship then you drop the car off at the airport. BDMom Posted September 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We did it too in May. Call Hertz in Cape Canaveral directly and ask the owner to meet the price you find. They will and they are very friendly. It does take a little bit of time to rent the car when several ships are all in that am. We were probably the last people off of our ship and we were easily in our rental car and on our way by 11:00 am. so if you made any effort to get off by 8:30 or even 9:00 you should be fine. Dropping off at MCO is super easy.
MacBrokefoot Posted September 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2010 I would stay away from Dollar as I believe they do not have airport drop off at MCO, they have a huge facility adjacent to the airport property.
FrogFritter Posted September 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Last year we used Avis for post cruise to MCO and this year we are using Hertz. Avis was great - easy to get shuttle after cruise and quick to return car to airport. We chose Hertz this time because it is less expensive for our dates. Good luck!! welldone60 Posted September 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We have used Budget both ways with excellent service. They are located about a mile from the port and the drop off at MCO is right at the terminal.
MacBrokefoot Posted September 11, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Yes, Avis, Hertz, National, Alamo and Budget all have airport drop off at the terminal.
bluenoser2 Posted September 11, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Thanks everyone, you've been a great help - especially the coupon site - I think we'll go with Budget, now that we've heard that Dollar doesn't have a drop-off right at the airport - with 5 of us and our luggage, that would just be one more loading and unloading to go through!
