Posting on the ship

We were on Millennium recently sailing from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego and had a really nice time.

We posted cards using the ship's bank early on the journey, it seemed such a convenient way of doing so, and have just found out that they kept them and posted them in San Diego, which was a bit of a surprise and not what we expected. No wonder no-one has thanked us for their cards!

Be aware.

That's frequently the case as many passengers put U.S. stamps on their postcards so they can only be mailed when the ship gets back to a U.S. port.

This is what I do, after drinking your smuggled Champagne, put a small note inside the bottle, throw it over the side, and in a few years your friends will get their note, you save 37 cents and your friends are amazed at being contacted by a total stranger! Was that the longest runon sentence you've ever seen?

This ship 10/91
That ship 11/95
Whatever ship 12/98
here a ship 13/99
there a ship 14/00
everywhere

We didn't put any stamps on, that was the point, we let Celebrity do it for us. A mistake clearly. We assumed that they would put local stamps on for us and post them the same day. We should have asked how they were going to do the mailing but it is easy to be wise after the event.
