Christmas on Enchantment....Help!

I am looking at a Christmas cruise on the Enchantment out of Baltimore. Can anyone tell me what to expect on a 9 night Christmas cruise? When are the formal nights, are there holiday activities, is the ship decorated? I have never done anything over the holidays except spend it with family but my husband will be deployed for Christmas this year so I am hoping this will be a good distraction for my kids. Thanks so much for the help!

We did an 8 day out of San Juan a couple of years back. The ship was decorated beautifully. In the atrium there is a HUGE Christmas tree (where Santa will be on Christmas morning) and there was a massive gingerbread house display as you entered the Schooner Bar. We had 2 formal nights (one being Christmas Eve or Christmas I cannot remember). The best distraction for me was that I was not cold on Christmas! :D

We'll be on the Enchantment for Thanksgiving, and are looking forward to a Thanksgiving dinner we don't have to cook ourselves!

We haven't been on RCCL over Christmas, but we did a Christmas cruise on Princess a few years ago and they had LOTS of special activities for kids and teens, as well as some for the entire family. The decorations were beautiful, and Christmas dinner was a formal night with a "special" menu.

You may want to think about creating a new gift-giving tradition shipboard: We told our daughter that the cruise WAS our Christmas present to her and to each other, but we did all exchange stockings filled with little trinkets on Christmas morning, and our daughter and her friend made cards for us while on the ship.

All in all, I think getting away for a holiday can be a FANTASTIC distraction--we chose to cruise after experiencing two really depressing Christmases at home (one year, my mother in law died suddenly just a few days before Christmas, the next year our cat died a few days after...), and wound up having a great time. Hope you do too!
