Explorer of the Seas-Bermuda/Bahamas

Hi - I just got a brochure and saw the new Bermuda/Bahamas cruise for 9 days. The only one listed is for April 2011. Does anyone know if this route is only sailed once a year? I called the 800 number and the person I spoke to said that is the only one listed at the moment that they change the routes occasionally.

Thanks

In the past they have done that two times a year, in the spring and in the fall. But they keep changing the routes. The Explorer of the Seas does 9 night sails all but generally they do the Caribbean, they don't do as many Bermuda and Bahamas routes because of weather. In the late fall, winter and early spring it is a bit cool to go to Bermuda. That might be why the shortage of 9 night Bermuda and Bahamas itineraries.

we sailed on the Explorer this past June 10 thru June 19 to Bermuda and the Bahamas. The weather was perfect and the sea was like glass for 9 days. We took this trip at that time because prices skyrocketed after that date. There were a few more sailings after ours.

We did the last Bermuda/Bahamas sailing on August 5, 2010. We nearly hit a tropical storm,if it wasn't for the skill of the captain it would have been a disaster! The captain almost didn't make it to Bermuda at all! Then he made it in for one day, and then he had to leave and go to Nassau due to the tropical storm becoming a hurricane. The seas were not like glass in August in the Atlantic. Then there were two or three hurricanes after that near Bermuda, and in the eastern Carribean. We may try it again in April-but to the Carrib-it's gorgeous, and have done it on the Princess line. Bermuda is very chilly in April-you can't swim in the ocean then. Hope this helps.

This year was the first year for that routing and they ran it quite a bit, alternating it with the Bahamas / Caribbean 9 nighter.

I think a lot of people liked it, so I would hope they do it again next year!
