Cruise Rookie Posted February 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2005 Can someone assist me with New Orleans the night before the cruise? April 23, 2005 Looking for a nice hotel to stay in the night before (cost no issue). Also looking to go to Bourbon Street - if its close, or some other nightlife. Transportation from airport to hotel? Hotel to Pier? Pier To Airport? ways, suggestions, methods. All is appreciated!
selucrey Posted February 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2005 Try http://www.frenchquarterhotels.com/innonbourbon/index.htmlThe Inn on Bourbon is just that, on Bourbon. You are bound to find something to do there.:D Get a balcony room and you will remember it forever. I would take a taxi everywhere unless you have a large group. CEWayfarer Posted February 16, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2005 Can someone assist me with New Orleans the night before the cruise? April 23, 2005 Looking for a nice hotel to stay in the night before (cost no issue).] If cost is no issue, I'd look at the Soniat House. It's a beautiful boutique hotel in a quiet part of the Quarter. You can walk to Bourbon Street, go nuts and then walk back to the 'sanctuary' of your hotel. Book ASAP!!! :) If cost was not an issue....I'd agree with many of the posts above and stay at a B&B! It may be impossible for you to find a room for just one night. I didn't realize it was Jazzfest. Most hotels have a three to four night minimum during the Fest.
lemongirl65 Posted February 18, 2005 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2005 http://www.placedarmes.com/ book a courtyard room. here is why i love it: close to french market (food/jewelery/clothing/new orleans souveniers close to cafe de monde (great chickory coffee/ beignets) MUST DO! 2 blocks to Pat obrien's and their hurricane (hubby could run there/back in 5 minutes with a drink...we had many) 1/2 block to jackson square (beautiful park, artists, performance artists) 1/2 block royale st (shpos, resturants, pubs etc) 1 1/2 blocks to bourbon street it's the best
zydecocruiser Posted February 18, 2005 #10 Share Posted February 18, 2005 Not cheap, but Royal Sonesta has space. If money really is no object, you could even get a balcony room overlooking Bourbon. http://www.sonesta.com/neworleans_royal/ How many people? Probably a taxi from the airport, maybe a limo if enough people. http://www.flymsy.com/ground_transportation.htm Taxi to ship ($7/pp) Taxi back to airport
Pianogrl Posted February 18, 2005 #11 Share Posted February 18, 2005 The night before our cruise we stayed at the Maison Dupuy, 2 blocks from Bourbon St.....very nice hotel. We absolutely loved it! My daughter has stayed @ the Royal Sonesta & loved it. It's all right there in the French Quarter, walking distance, to everything. Make sure you go to the Cafe DuMonde & get beignets!!! Also, check out: http://www.experienceneworleans.com and http://www.neworleanscoupons.com These 2 sites will give you great info. on hotels, restaurants, attractions, shopping, etc. Have fun! OTTER Posted February 19, 2005 #13 Share Posted February 19, 2005 I've stayed at the Sheraton and Doubletree on Canal Street and both were nice places and only a few blocks to Bourbon Street. If you have a tough time finding places due to Jazz Fest, try the Days Inn on Canal. It is about 12 blocks from the Quarter and you will need to take a taxi or bus to get in to the Quarter at night, but it is another alternative if you have a hard time finding a place.
