Pan Am pier - anything to do nearby for a few hours?

We're getting into San Juan on the day of our cruise and have the cruise shuttle service from the airport to the pier. But if we can't get on the ship right away or don't want to, is there anything to do near the Pan Am pier, or do we have to taxi into Old San Juan?

You would have to check the Convention Center's calendar, but they usually have something going on, many of which are open to the public. The hotel there also has a casino.

Other than that, not much.

There is really nothing within walking distance of the dock. You would need to take a taxi. The ship is usually ready by 1:00 so we just board have lunch and relax.
