Hotel in Ft Lauderdale or Miami?

We are a family of 4 flying into FLL the day before & arrive at 11:00am. Cruise is out of Miami. Do you recommend a hotel in Ft Lauderdale or Miami? Any hotel recommendations? Any recommendations between renting a car one way or using SAS to get to Port of Miami?

I vote Ft Lauderdale and a rental car perhaps from Alamo.

 

More family friendly, more to do, free parking at most hotels and less expensive.

I too recommend Ft. Lauderdale. You can probably get by without a car, but with 4 people, you might just break even on the cost. It's just a bit more hooplah.

 

I'd try for the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas (Ft. Lauderdale Downtown)

 

Great rates and a really cute area, with lots of restaurants and shops. Water taxi stop. Get SAS to pick you up and transport you down to the port in the morning.
