Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport

Has anyone stayed at this airport pre-cruise? Was there a free shuttle from the airport? What are the options to get to the port? Thanks for sharing!

We've stayed there several times. It's a nice place but it's rather isolated-no shopping or restaurants within walking distance. The airport pickup van is prompt and the drivers are very friendly and helpful. You'll have to take a cab to the port. I negotiate a price with the driver and it runs $12-15. They have a very nice breakfast buffet/menu but it's not complimentary. I think it's a notch above the Hyatt Places, Hampton, etc.

I agree with Bobed - we stayed there once. It's nice, but nothing close to the hotel.

We always bid and hope to get the Renaissance downtown. Stayed there 6 times and we are staying again in Oct.

Isolated is the exact right word for it. I suspect that this Hilton is just a place for airline crews to sleep before their next day of flying.

 

It's right off of I-95. I've been there for events and there's nothing wrong with it, but you can do WAY better on location.

If we want to go out for dinner and pick up some wine/pop for the cruise, where is the best place to ask the cab to go?

The Rustic Inn is less than a 1/2 mile away. Crabs by the bucket. Fun place. There's a CVS on Stirling and a Publix on Griffin. Both are about 1.5 miles away. Check with the hotel, often the guy who drives the shuttle will do a run for you.
