candance Posted September 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2010 Anyone have a recommendation for a tour company that does good / small 1 day shore excurisions out of Burnie? Specifically to Cradle Mountains. Candance
moyaroo Posted September 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2010 Can't give an operator, but it is about and hour and half up. Once there you need a while to walk around. Just taking the Pencil falls walk and stopping at Devils@Cradle will fill your day. You might want to walk Lake Dove, but that would seriously put you in trouble for the return. If I were to do it I would rent a car and drive.

cruisycarol Posted September 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2010 Hi Candace, I was also looking and had a lot of trouble finding an operator, we would like to do a circumnavigation cruise and a lot of them go into Burnie. Please let me know how you get on - I saw your post for Cradle Coast and saw another site for Murray's Day out. Also came across some sites for agents that book for Burnie - one was MC tours which has one to Cradle Mountain and there is also Shoretours.com.au which have private tours available and you just tell them where to go. Would be great if anyone has used any of these companies before and has some feedback????? Not sure if any of them are any good :)
Cruisin_on_th_net Posted September 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2010 I lived in this area, and would recommend you do a self drive tour via a hire car. Just take you time, drive slowly (hair pin bends etc) and enjoy the scenery. Great area and friendly warm people :)
Cruisin_on_th_net Posted September 29, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2010 http://www.cradlecoasttours.com.au/ http://www.cradlemountaintours.com.au/sites/default.asp I found them from this site, which is a Tassie gov site, so I'd suggest reasonably reliable. http://www.tas.gov.au/tasmaniaonline/Nav/Heading.asp?Topic=Tourism&Heading=Tours I hope you enjoy Tassie, great great place - you need at least a fortnight - month to see it properly :)
