Conwaycruiser Posted September 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2010 Does the Triumph have hair dryers in the rooms? Robes? Do you take any type of ice chest and if so, do you take it as a carry on? I've heard recently about having their little fans confiscated..have any of you had this happen? Are the rooms hot and stuffy? We have a balcony room that supposedly has a queen bed? I've never seen one on any of our other cruises(just twin, king). Does anyone know if it's a true Queen and if so, has anyone slept on the sofabed? Is it uncomfortable? Also, I tend to rest/relax more on my cruises and end up not doing as much as I thought I would but what are some of the things I shouldn't miss? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!!! Grits53 Posted September 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2010 Does the Triumph have hair dryers in the rooms? Yes, but they're not the best. They get hot in your hand but don't dry hair very well. Might want to take your own. Robes? Yes Do you take any type of ice chest and if so, do you take it as a carry on? No, but if I did, I'd take a collapsable one and pack it in my checked bag. I've heard recently about having their little fans confiscated..have any of you had this happen? N/A Are the rooms hot and stuffy? No We have a balcony room that supposedly has a queen bed? I've never seen one on any of our other cruises(just twin, king). Does anyone know if it's a true Queen and if so, has anyone slept on the sofabed? Is it uncomfortable? I've asked this question before, and I believe it is a true queen, not a king and not one that separates into 2 twins. This would be an aft wrap or extended balcony cabin. Enjoy that balcony! Also, I tend to rest/relax more on my cruises and end up not doing as much as I thought I would but what are some of the things I shouldn't miss? The Big Easy show in the show lounge is the best I've ever seen on a ship! The Marriage Game is always funny. Karaoke in Club Rio is a blast! Mardi Gras party is fun, too. Thanks in advance for any and all advice!!! See reply in red.

Just off the Triumph yesterday.....hair dryers stink - take one. Robes are in the closet. We took a 12x12 soft sided cooler in our checked luggage. I took my fan in my carry on and had no issues (it's battery or electric). I did get my carry on searched but it was due to the 2 bottles of wine and bloody mary mix I had in there. They had to make sure the mix was non-alcoholic. Our room was warm but not terrible. They worked on the air for us. All others in our group were plenty cool to cold. Our cabin (7419) was supposed to be Queen. The bed is the same as all the other cabins - not a Queen. Seven cabins on the aft of deck 7 were FLOODED during our cruise due to a hot water pipe bursting somewhere. They did a great job of relocating people, replacing mattresses etc. Never seen so many crew members jump on something so fast. Don't miss a comedian - think his name was Darren Sanders - really funny guy. Also, martini special on first day only - 3/$10 and you choose the flavors. Vera at the martini bar makes really good drinks. Bar hop followed by the deck party was fun. The Big Easy is always a good show although we've seen it many times and didn't go this time. Karaoke is no longer held in Club Rio - it's in the Casino area on the Promenade. Club Rio has comedy from 7:30 until midnight or later every night. First couple of shows are PG and the 10pm and later are R rated. Piano bar was rocking and rolling on this cruise too.

LRene Posted September 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2010 BTW - one thing that is EASY to miss is the Fun Farewell Party on the last sea day. There will be nothing except one little line in the daily schedule on the Fun Times that says what time in Club Rio. It won't indicate what it is or anything. It's a solid hour of free drinks and the big band playing. There's a bar in there so you can order anything you want - not just what they are passing around on the trays. No snacks served and no speeches made. There were probably less than 100 people who actually attended. I think it's just a matter of time before they do away with it completely. :(
LRene Posted September 26, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2010 What ???? Oh well... Seemed a strange place to have it but it still drew a lot of people and they had it most every day - sometimes more than once a day.

(Not that it really matters, just curious.) I'm not doubting your observation about karaoke one bit. But are you SURE it was not held in Club Rio at least some of the nights? In May, they had it in the casino area most evenings but also in Club Rio starting at about 8:00 most nights. I would think they would at least alternate between karaoke and comedy in Club Rio. Many of our roll call members are very excited about karaoke. I see that it was in Club Rio just 2 weeks ago on Sargent Shultz's cruise..... LRene Posted September 26, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 26, 2010 Hi Jan - no, the flood wasn't anywhere near cabin #7349 - it started at 7425 and went around the aft. Sorry, I'm not a karaoke person so went back and looked at the Fun Times for you. It looks like they had it about everywhere! I got the cruise flu about halfway through the cruise and have been sick ever since so I shouldn't have relied on my poor memory. This was the schedule on our 7 day Eastern: Day 1: Club Rio 8:30p - Late Day 2: Worlds Bar 2-4p and Venezia 8:30-10:30 Day 3: Worlds Bar 2-4p and Venezia 8:30 - Late Day 4: Club Rio 8:30p - 11:30p (port day) Day 5: Club Rio 8:30p - 10:30p (port day) Day 6: Venezia 8:30p - 11:45p (port day) Day 7: Worlds Bar 2-4p

My roll call friends will be glad to hear that! I'm sorry you got sick. We used to get sick right after every cruise, until we started being extra cautious and using the germicidal gel every chance we get, plus washing hands often. That really helps keep the bugs at bay. We don't eat at the buffet either, because I feel that's where most bugs are spread. I hope you feel better soon!
tiger belle Posted September 27, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 27, 2010 In April, I was in cabin 6229 on Triumph, and it was a balcony room with a queen bed...loved the room...only problem was that one side of the bed was very close to the balcony wall...not really a big deal for me since I was a solo in the room on that cruise
