jmezmom Posted September 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2010 Is there a beach with some nice waves to play in that we can get to by taxi from the ship in Puerto Vallarta? I have walked downtown along the water but dont see a lot of people swimming there. The beach excursions all include boat rides and entertainment that we are not interested in. Thanks

Thanks If you are looking for wazes to play in, you will have to go to the beaches long the north shore of Banderas Bay. The resort areas in the northern part of Nuevo Vallarta and into Bucerias would offer the most promise. Sayulita, on the Pacific coast, is known for surfable waves but undertow can be a hazard for beach swimmers. This site has useful maps - http://vallartainfo.com/map.html Vacation visitors and locals frequent the beach area on Vallarta's south side (Los Muertos Beach). May not have the waves you are looking for but is an easy taxi/bus ride from the port and has excellent restaurant/bar support. http://vallartainfo.com/south.html Enjoy! Thanks Yes, just tell your taxi drive to take you to Playa Los Muertos Beach on the south side of PV. It's probably a 30 minute drive from the ship and just have the taxi driver drop you off near the Los Muertos Pier. There you'll find a nice beach with many hotels and restaurants lining the beach. This where many of the tourist as well as local lounge at the beach. After the beach you can walk one block to Olas Altas Avenue where you will find many restaurants and bar as well as plenty of taxis to take you back to the ship.
