Snorkel Trip: Bonaire

We contacted Woodwind on Bonaire for the 5 hour trip, and because our ship is in port, they only offer two 3 hour tours. We would like something LONGER than 3 hours, possibly offering lunch, and of course, great snorkeling! Any suggestions or good tour groups you recommend?

I don't know of a 5 hr. snorkel with lunch. However, some of the dive shops offer snorkeling on their dive boats, if they have enough divers. For example, we are going to use Buddy Dive to snorkel. They require a minimum of 4 divers. They go to the marine park on the north side of the island. The only way you can do that park on a cruise day is by boat. Vehicle would be too slow. and would take too long for transportation. Another thing you can do is take the ferry to Klein, and snorkel from shore there. You can stay there as long as you like. There are no facilities there. So, if you wanted to return to town or the ship for lunch, then go back to Klein for more snorkeling. Another alternative is to rent a car, and snorkel from shore. There are some great snorkeling spots from shore. You could break for lunch whenever you liked.

Another good resource is bonairetalk.com you can post your questions there, and see if someone knows something I don't. Bonaire is a small island.

Thank you so much for your reply. We are probably going to take the water taxi to Klein and snorkel there most of the day. Can you help me find out where to meet the water taxi?

When you get off the ship, turn left towards the downtown area. You will see the ferry dock. It is very close, no more than a 5 min. walk. Stay on the sidewalk that runs parallel to the water. Be sure to take plenty of water and sunscreen with you, as there are no facilities on Klein. :p

Thank you SO much for this information. Do you happen to remember the cost and how often the water taxi runs? We want to spend at least 2-3 hours snorkeling, but our ship leaves at 4:00, which means all aboard at 3:30 and we don't want to get stranded!
