Aussie seeking info about the Rhapsody of the Seas

Recommended Posts

I have never cruised with Royal Carribean, and wondering a couple of things. If anyone can help please let me know:

  • Are US dollars used on board?
  • What are the cost of drinks such as soft drinks, cocktails, and spirits?
  • In the casino what are the minimum limits on the tables, and how many roulette tables are there?
  • What are the staff like on board with the children and teen activities? And what sort of activities will my 9 and 13 year old daughters be doing?
  • Cost of spa treatments ie massages, manicures, pedicures?

All info in addition to that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.:D

Thanks

Hi there,

We were on Rhapsody earlier this year for an Alaskan cruise. I will answer what I remember, based on it sailing in the US.

Yes, US Dollars were the 'prices', but ultimately there really was no cash used on board, with the exception of the casino. Which I would imagine will stay US $ as I imagine it would be hard to convert the slot machines. Most everything else on the ship was 'cash' free since you use your Room key/Sail Pass for everything. Charges get charged to your room based on how you set up your charges prior to sailing (charge card,etc..). I would think if you use your charge card, the credit company would convert from US to Aussie at the time they bill you.

The casino had different minimum bets. The first day or so, they had so VERY low limits. But later they went up. Generally I saw $5 as a minimum but I didn't really check. I know hubby shot craps alot so I guess the normal minimum applies there too ($8?). I seem to remember only 1 roulette table and to be honest, I didn't look closely so I don't know if it's a single or double zero wheel. I do know hubby walked out with more money than he went in with as did I. YEAH! That was a first for both of us. :D

Cost of Drinks- We did the soda card which is I think $7 a day for adults, less for kids. With fountain sodas running about $2 each, well worth it if you drink 3 drinks or more a day. As for alcohol drinks, I don't remember as I don't even think we ordered one. But I'm sure they are probably about $5 on up, plus tips.

Can't help on the kid front as we don't have any so we didn't pay attention.

As far as the Spa, we did a couples massage and that was about $240 for an hour, I think. Then of course the tip. I will say, be careful for any spa appts as when they are done, they try to sell, sell, sell you on their products. Just be prepared.

Rhapsody is a great ship with a great crew. I think you will love her.

Erika
