Carolinabelle83 Posted February 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2005 Our group of 12 twenty-somethings is cruising in a few weeks and I'd appreciate any advice that people may have for us. Any pet-peeves about young crowds? Where to go on the ship? General advice? Anything will be helpful! :p
LARGIN Posted February 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2005 I would give the same advice to 30 somethings, 40 somethings, 50 somethings, 60 somethings.. well you get the picture... Have a great time, enjoy yourself, and treat others including the staff with respect..
aggieastrosfan Posted February 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2005 As a 20-something myself, just be yourself! If you're asking this question at all, you're probably not the person who's going to run around "ruining others' vacation". Also remember that you can't please everyone, and anyone, regardless of age, is bound to do something to irritate those folks. All you can do is apologize, move on, and not take it personally. :) Depending on what ship you're going on, Skywalkers is where the "younger crowd" tends to be at night. Hope I said all that right.
calikak Posted February 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2005 You guys will have a great time! My DH and I are 20-somethings who usually sail with another couple of 20-somethings. Skywalkers does tend to have a younger crowd at night, that's a good place to hang out, as is any of the pool areas. Also, be friendly to the other passengers and you'll immediately make new friends, even ones who are your parents' age.
Seabee Posted February 19, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2005 Hey CarolinaBelle...we're taking our 20 something kids with us on the Carib Princess in a few weeks. They live in NC (Chapel Hiil and Charlotte). Which ship and date are y'all on?
Carolinabelle83 Posted February 21, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 21, 2005 Wow! We're not far from one another. I'm from Columbia SC (USC). We will be on the Caribbean Princess 3/5/05.
toothgirl Posted February 21, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2005 I'm 20-something myself, and I'll be going on my very first cruise March 19-th on Sun Princess. So far I have the feeling I'll be the only one from this age-group. But oh well.... I'm sure I'll have a good time anyways, people are people regardless of age...as long as you're young at heart.... live and let others be! :) Have a great cruise! MiamiNicole Posted February 21, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2005 My sister, BF, my Bf and myself were on the CB New Year's Sailing, we are all in our twenties. There were TONS of young people on board, especially since it was holiday time. I felt the crowd at Skywalkers was a bit younger than us, we are 24 and 26 and they seemed to be more like the 18-22 crowd, which would have been fine if they weren't all so obnoxious. We all tended to stick together and met some nice people in the casino and by the pool. We found a lot of young people to be very pushy and obnoxious, there were a lot of New Yorkers on our boat (and New Jersey), sorry you to you New Yorkers, but some of you guys give you all a reputation. These young people were loud, pushy, and not friendly. But to answer your question...you will have a blast, especially since you are going with your friends. I found it difficult to meet others, but there was tons to do and my trip really isn't centered around the others on the boat anyhow. Have a blast! cruisingtogether99 Posted February 21, 2005 #10 Share Posted February 21, 2005 MiamiNicole, Just so you know, not all of us New York/New Jerseyans are obnoxious. We are passionate and may come across as impatient. That is only because we are too excited to experience life. That's all. Don't hate. We good peeps. pamwinn Posted February 21, 2005 #11 Share Posted February 21, 2005 Well, since you ask, the thing I don't like about you twenty somethings is the way you look. You make me look really bad. Perhaps if you could make yourselves less attractive, it wouldn't bother me so much when I see you around the ship. :D
Case1096 Posted February 22, 2005 #12 Share Posted February 22, 2005 My GF and I are on the Golden in May and we are in our late 20's. We were concerned about the age bracket, but decided that Princess seems to attract a wide variety of ages. Also there is no way to truly predict what the demographics will be, any group of passengers can walk onto any ship, so you never know until you are there. Yes you can make general assumptions that certain ages travel certain lines, but you still will never know until you board that ship. It would be a great idea if you could just go to a website and punch in your sailing date and the cruise line just give you a list of what kind of demographics are sailing then.
