SharonK Posted October 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2010 We will be on the Celebrity Solstice May 14 med cruise with our first stop in Cannes. I believe this falls at the same time as the film festival. We were hoping to have a relaxing day wandering Cannes because our next 3 days (Florence, Rome, and Naples) will probably be exhausting. Are we crazy to think we can have a relaxing day in Cannes at this time of year. I have seen lots of suggesstions for side trips but didn't want to spend lots of times riding on trains, buses, etc. Any suggestions?
Toots Posted October 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2010 We were in Cannes during the film festival several years ago. We had no problems walking around the town, as a matter of fact, seeing so many yachts in the harbor and the red carpet at the festival hall is interesting. We were hoping to see celebrities, but no luck. We walked from the old town up to a small church and fort on top of the hill across from the harbor for great views and photos of the action below. There's a hop-on hop-off bus close to the harbor as well, but it doesn't go very far and was kind of a waste. You can just walk along the harbor and see the same things, or sit in a sidewalk cafe and watch people.

(Of course my sister is hoping we'll see some celebrities!)
gosport11 Posted October 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2010 The main beach where all the beach bars are will be for private use only,be prepared for the sea front to be closed of if a movie premier is on the go,we caught the local bus 1 euro and done a round the bay trip which was different, also you will need deep pockets if you want any drinks etc,we were on the Azamara Quest and spent 3 days anchored off Cannes so had no time constrants so could wait for the so called stars and watch the paparzzi which was more fun :):):)
SharonK Posted October 15, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Thanks for the warning Don't know if our pockets will be deep enough. LOL! We will just go without too many expectations and we'll go with the flow! And we can always go back to the ship if its too crowded.
