Spirit class-why you love it so much

I like all the nooks and crannies of the ship, the double mid pools, an open aft pool area, the best buffet at sea, the two floor "promenade" and most of all, how there are no bottlenecks on the ship.

I also like the outside promenade that goes all the way round back on deck 3.

I just love the layout of the ship. The twin pool areas on Lido and the adults only pool/hot tub aft. I like the layout of the Promenade Deck. I like having a bar area inside the casino with a seating area so you watch the action. Also the size is just right for me.

I have to agree about the buffet. Love the Taste of Nations.

We have only been on the Spirit Class and the Fantasy Class ships and we like the Spirit Class better because of the Lido Deck. The buffet has more choices, more pool areas and I like the aft deck for sitting and watching the water, especially at sunrise. We usually book an inside cabin on the forward Riveria Deck and the extra length means I walk further and I have actually lost weight on our cruises (and I eat what I want). :D

We are going to try the Conquest Class in January. I am little concerned it will be too big, but I am sure we will have a good time anyways, since any cruise is a good cruise.

I love the size of the ship. It's big enough that there's plenty to do, but not so big that you spend your time lost. I love the layout because you can get through on every deck and it feels wide open. I don't need a giant screen by the pool, rock wall, or anything like that. If they would make more spirit class ships, I'd be thrilled!

So easy to get around. No up down for dining and wondering if we got off on the wrong floor. We haev cruised the bigger ships but still love the spirit class. Going ot be on the Spirit to Alaska in Aug. Looking forward to my hubby not saying" are you sure our dining room is on this level??

I second almost all of the above. One of my favorite spots is the open-air aft section by the adult only pool. Great bar with an awning for those those of us who sunburn, yet open to the sea. I'm not fond of how that area is glassed in on the Conquest class ships. The wrap around Promenade on deck 3 is also great for a romantic post dinner walk. Not too many people and seems less crowded as well. I've had a great time on the larger shps - they tend to lend themselves to more of a party buzz imho where the Spirit class ships seem more quiet and relaxing to me.

We have been on three different class Carnival ships. We Like the Spirit class the best so far. The Fantasy class ships are ok. Sailed once on the Inspiration and have three booked on Fantasy class ships, the Imagination and the Inspiration. The Spirit class has balcony cabins which we like. The Miracle is the Spirit class we have sailed on. We had a little difficulty getting around on the Conquest class ship. The Liberty being that ship. We found that the Conquest class ship holding 1,000 more passengers than a Spirit is more crowded. We do like the large movie screen on the Conquest class. We found that the Miracle is much easier to get around on than the Liberty. For us it is the itinerary that is the most important. The ship is secondary.

Having recently returned from our cruise on the Miracle, my wife and I LOVED the Spirit class. We've only previously done larger ships, (Crown Princess & Carnival Dream) but preferred the layout of the smaller ship. I agree with all of the reasons posted above, plus, maybe it was only my imagination and It's kinda hard to explain, but it felt more like a ship (which it obviously is! :p) and less like a floating resort. (better ocean views, more movement of the ocean, etc.)

seems after reading a bunch of posts I am finding that many people enjoy the Spirit class ships the most. Even more than some of the new larger boats.

Why is this?

I liked the Pride better than the Freedom. better layout and liked the lido deck better.

Val-we'll be sailing together on this one!!!!

I also seem to recall a thread that pointed out the the Spirit Class was designed/built but someone who was not involved with the other classes.

That would help explain why it has a different feel, in general.

Well, Cunard certainly like it. Their last two Queens were a variation of the Spirit class. Costa uses it too, if I'm not mistaken.

I regret booking the Dream. I've never been on a Spirit Class ship but after looking at all the deck plans a while back I wish I had booked the Legend or the Miracle. Plus it seems to carry a LOT less people.

If our cruise on the Dream is good our next cruise will be on a spirit class.

I did not know that. I assumed they were different since Cunard's Queen Victoria & Queen Elizabeth were built by Fincantieri and the Spirit class ships were built by Kvaerner Masa.

Cool!
