I went to Passion Island in September and had mixed feelings. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and it didn't seem crowded during the 3 hours I spent there. However I did notice the drinks seemed to be watered down and everyone there mentioned tipping way too often.

Take a look at a couple of pictures I took and see for yourself how beautiful this place is.

We did the Twister to Isla Passion last week. It is about a 30 minute fast ride to the island. Prior to docking, the driver does several spins with boat. It felt safe; you are strapped in very effectively. Depending on where you are sitting, you will get soaked to wet. Upon leaving he will again spin 6-8 times.

After docking, you are met by a Passion Island escort who keeps an eye on you throughout your stay and notify you when your transportation is leaving. A cat and one other speed boat dropped passengers. I would say no more than 75 people were there. The twister arrived first so there was a short time when you felt like the only ones on the beach.

There is a "free bar" and a cash bar if you prefer frozen drinks or bottled beer.Drinks were good with a fair variety. There are shaded palepas with tables and chairs and plastic loungers on the beach. The sand is beautiful, the water was not calm but not too rough. There is a water trampoline, kayaks, a sailfish and float mats. Lunch was fish, chicken , rice, and fruit.

There are portions of the sandy beach where the sand is like babypowder. There is some turtle grass but the entire island is raked and kept pristine. I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely this island was.

I would go back in a flash:). Any other questions?

In the effort to not start a new thread on Passion Island, I'll ask my question here and hope someone can answer it...

Is the road to Passion Island still as horribly bumpy as it was in the past? Everyone who has been down that road complains about how bad it is, but the Cozumel people don't seem to ever do anything about it. It would cut the time down in traveling to the island by at least half if the road didn't require the bus to go so slow the whole time. I really want to go to Passion Island again, but I don't think I want to subject myself to that bumpy road if it hasn't improved. You see, I am pregnant and I remember it being REALLY bad. So bad that I am worried about going down it while I'm pregnant. We are on Carnival, so I don't have a catamaran option, like RCI has.

BTW, for the OP, it's been a long time since I was there, but it was paradise. I really want to go back before we have another child and can't afford it anymore. It's very expensive, and the time on the island is short, but it was definately memorable.

Sorry to report that the road has not improved since the last time you were there. In fact it's quite possible that it's gotten worse. It is a shame that you have to put yourself through torture to get to a place that is so gorgeous. We will be going to Nachi Cocom when I return to Cozumel in February instead.

I guess the alligator is something like the islands mascot because he just hangs out by the dock and greets everyone that visits the island from the mainland. Before leaving we grabbed some chicken from the buffet to feed to him.

My dh and I love beaches and Passion Island is one of our favorites. I go on Caribbean cruises to totally relax in the sun and Passion Island is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the water. I just wish the time spent on Passion Island was longer.

Does anyone know if use of the kayaks is included in the price?

My 12yo son REALLY wants to kayak (his ONLY request!)

FYI I contacted Passion Island via email and they said that kayaks are included in the price of admission but if the wind is high they may restict there usage.
