Reward points - Slot play question?

I understand that for 5K Rewards Points I can buy a $100 Slot Play at 50%. Exactly what is the slot play - is a it a card that has $100 loaded on it or does it have 100 worth of slot credits? Is it like cash??? - Is there a way to divide the card into 2 cards, so I could give half of it to my Mom? Thanks.

They give you a special card to insert in a slot machine, it loads $100 and costs $50. However, you can't just turn around and withdraw $100.

I don't believe it knows who is using it, so you and your Mom could both use it. You have to play off the whole $100, you get to keep the winnings above that. If you have ever gotten a deposit bonus from an online casino, it's sort of the same thing.

You and your Mom could share the card. The card has $100 loaded on it. You put it in the machine and select an amount you want to download. You do not need to put the entire amount in at once (and in fact this isn't really a good idea). You can choose any amount. Once the credits are shown on your machine, you can take the card out and let your Mom download some money into a machine.

Any credits downloaded must be played in the machine. You can cash out any winnings though.

We saw quite a few people who were upset and confused by these cards. They would download the entire $100 into a machine and couldn't understand why they couldn't cash it out and move to another machine. They couldn't seem to understand that the credits had to be played in that machine. You can always download more money onto the same machine if you choose. Hope this was clear.

Thanks, I was just considering how much OBC and casino credit to buy with World Points for our upcoming cruise.. This information is very helpful!! Wondered how they made sure you used the $100... I am sure that DH will have no problems at all! LOL

You do not have to spend it all. But, if you are asking how they track the play, it is easy.

For example - you download $40. You play $1 on each spin. After 40 spins, it is played. Any money left from winnings is available to play or cash out.

Can someone you has successfully used this program clarify for me, please? Five thousand world points would get me either $50 on board credit or $100 slot play at 50%.

Does that mean I get a $100 slot card for my "$50 dollar's worth" of world points? (good deal)

Or would I need to redeem world points plus spend an extra $50? (not such a good deal)

I've done this twice. It's 5,000 world points for $100 of slot play ( or $50 OBC). I've had reps on the phone tell me that I had to pay $50 onboard to get the $100, but this is not true.

Also, since my husband is also a signer on the account I was able to get two cards one for him and one for me (there is a one per person limit on these). Again, I've had reps say they couldn't do it and then called back and had no problem. It seems that it depends on who you speak to. Some seem to be understand the program and others don't.

thanks Goldmom. That is how I thought it should work. I thought I was all set for the slot credit before my last NCL cruise, but once on board they would not give it to me. it was never clear why. I think they messed up the paperwork and found it easier to say no than to rectify the problem. I'll try again for our December cruise.

Thank you for the response. I think I understand. What happens if I download $20 and win $20 (total 40) can I cash out the $40 and move to another machine or only the $20 I won? Thanks.

Yes, you can cash out the $40. As long as you have played the amount of the original credits you downloaded, anything left can be cashed out. Just make sure to check the credit meter when you cash out to be sure that you've used all the original credits.

As far as the World Points. Make sure you print out the confirmation and that the credit as been attached to your reservation. There should be some type of notation on your invoice. I think ours was near our cabin/category number. As long as it's attached to your reservation, you should have no problem. Have a great cruise!

I had that paperwork last time, but NCL did not honor it. I did get my points back after the cruise. I am hoping it works properly this time. I feel lucky. Also I'll be in a suite, so if need be I can ask the concierge to sort it out. First time in a suite...I feel luckier every minute.

Thanks, Goldmom, for all the info.
