dcward89 Posted October 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Does anyone know if a cash advance qualifies for points on my Royal Caribbean Visa and do they charge transaction fees for cash advances? I was going to pay my car off and I thought if I could get points for it I would get a cash advance and pay it off with that. I have the money to pay off the car and always pay the card off every month so there's no issue with interest. Yes, I can check my card agreement when I go home, I just thought someone might know. saintbernardlover Posted October 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2010 I don't know if using the card for a cash advance qualifies for points but I am looking at my agreement and there is a 4% transaction fee for cash advances. If you could get the person/company that holds the note on your car loan to accept the credit card to pay off the loan, then you would not have to pay the 4% fee and you would get the points. flcruzer03 Posted October 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2010 The cash advance does not earn you points...I had called them to ask the same thing, as they always send the "convience" checks with my statement. The person I talked to said the check would not earn points as it is considered a "cash advance"...it was a good idea though!:)
dcward89 Posted October 20, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted October 20, 2010 I already tried getting the credit union to just put the payment on my card but they "are not set up for that"...whatever. I forgot about the transaction fee...since we're talking about $5700 the $228 transaction fee would negate the obc I would get...oh well, it was a thought.
