Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza vs Embassy Suites

Hi all,

I have these two hotels on "hold". Can anyone give me a pro/con on each and the distance between each and the airport and pan american port?

Many thanks!!

Condado Plaza is about 7 miles from the airport. The taxi fare is a set rate of $15 plus $1 per suitcase. There is an extra charge of $2 per person over 5 passengers. Many of the taxis are vans, so there is a lot of room for suitcases. At the taxi line, a representative will write a ticket for you to give the driver which specifies the total charge and they will make sure you get a taxi of the proper size to carry all your luggage. The Condado Plaza is about 1 mile from the Pan American Pier. The taxi cost from the hotel to the Pier is about $10 plus the baggage and extra person charges, plus tips. There is always a taxi line at the Condado Plaza.

The Condado Plaza is now a Hilton property. They have undergone major renovations and is now in very good shape. They have several restaurants and a casino. They do have a very nice pool area plus a beach but I'm not sure the beach is so good. As it is classified as a resort, I believe they charge a daily "resort charge" but I am not certain about that. There are many restaurants within walking distance along Ashford Ave.

We've never stayed at the other hotel, so can't comment.

Thanks for the info on the taxi's!

Can anyone else comment on the hotels pros/cons? Embassy is alittle less expensive and has a full breakfast included. Just wondering if it's worth being further out and the difference between the hotels.

We spent two nights at The Condado Plaza a few years ago. Just be sure to avoid a room on the front over looking the main road. It is very noisy all night long. Between the cars, buses, trucks and motorcycles, we could not sleep the first night. So we moved to a rear facing room and it was 1000% quieter.

Embassy Suites is located in Isla Verde, while Condado Plaza Hotel is located in Condado. Isla Verde is closer to the airport, Condado is closer to the ports & historic district. Embassy is not an ocean front hotel, Condado Plaza is.

Isla Verde is more a beach residential-tourist area, Condado is more a residential-tourist zone with nicer restaurants.
