lindylee0803 Posted October 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2010 We were thinking of renting a car in St. Maarten for the day in port. Does anyone know if this is a good idea, and if there are any car rentals at the port? We're going on the Miracle the week of November 27th. Thanks!! wallypbear Posted October 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2010 We always rent a jeep from Avis in St. Maarten. Their vehicles are in good working order and are located right at the pier. Driving around the island is very easy. You may take a wrong turn here and there if it's your first time on the island but that's part of the fun. If your returning to the port late in the afternoon from Maho Beach area allow a good 30 minutes extra time. Traffic in town near the port is one way and bumper to bumper. mavis2222 Posted October 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2010 I rented a minivan last yr on Nov 23 and drove to Maho Beach to watch airplanes. Cost about 75 dollars. Had several people with me, thats why i rented a van instead of a Jeep. Just watch the "roundabouts". Ask for a road map, Avis gave us one that was highly detailed, plus it had allot of "colorfull" ads of "nude" women on it, I guess for advertising the nude beach etc. Just dont let your kids see it. My Sisters Husband threw out the map because of there 16 yo with us. I told him to give it to me. Next time i go back im getting another map, for a sovinier.
