I'm thinking about hiring a car while in Barbados.

Has anyone any information on where to go.

We will be looking for a nice beach away from the crowds, and maybe somewhere nice to eat.

Also anything of interest worth seeing, and a nice view or two.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you really need a rental car, but don't know your personal situation of course. We went everywhere on the local bus, around almost the whole island on the one day we were in port. The bus system in Barbados is exceptionally good, efficient, clean and friendly. We went to the Animal Flower Cave by the sea. A local gave us a great tour. There was a simple food outlet on site with this great deserted beach in front. We are not beach people, but it looked inviting.

If you search this Barbados forum, you will find many wonderful photographs posted by Mr. Aplmac. The ones that seem to fit your criteria are of the East Coast of the island.

You will discover wonderful deserted beaches there with warm, azure waters.

Have a wonderful lunch at the Crane or at one of the great restaurants in Bathsheba.

The East Coast is a special place reserved for special people.

I think you may be one of them. ;)

We loved seeing Bathsheba, with its crashing surf and huge boulders. What a contrast to the inviting waters of the Caribbean side. While we were at Bathsheba, we had a wonderful lunch at a seaside restaurant, the Round House: http://www.roundhousebarbados.com/

Some other spots we've liked to visit are Welchman Hall Gully, the Highlands (an especially nice photo stop), and Gun Hill Station (be sure to get a photo of the marble lion nearby). This site will give you some additional ideas for a day's itinerary. Barbados has so many lovely spots to choose from, you really can't go wrong! :) www.visitbarbados.org
