bluegirlum Posted October 31, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2010 What is the closet beach in Grand Cayman to the ship? If you want to swim and lay on a sandy beach, there is 7 mile beach, which is the beach everyone knows about. You can hop on a public bus (US $2.50) and have them take you to Royal Palms. Or, if you want to snorkel, head towards Paradise Bar in town. There is a little beach and great snorkeling and it's a 3 minute walk from where the tender drops you off. rin1 Posted November 30, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2010 The close beach that you mention, is it rocky? We don't need fancy, we just want a beach within walking distance, but we're fans of sand.
camofwilliamsburg Posted November 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2010 HAs a sandy area for a few chairs, then it is rocks heading to a ladder to go into the water.

Santaa Posted December 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 2, 2010 Royal Palms is a free beach and it's not far. We took a taxi and it cost $4.00 per person. Thier is a small bar with food. if you want to rent a beach chair it's $7.00. We brought our own towels and sat on the beach and when were ready to leave thier were plenty of taxies ready to take us back.

ODECCIT Posted December 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted December 7, 2010 What is the closet beach in Grand Cayman to the ship? Marriot would be the closest beach with food and bar if you don't mind using your towels instead of chairs. Royal Palm is 100 feet further. DebJ14 Posted December 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Are there restrooms available? Is food reasonable? Thanks. Yes there are restrooms. You can also rent jet skis and umbrellas besides the chairs. Nothing is what I would call reasonable on Grand Cayman. Just about everything has to be flown in or brought in by ship so food is expensive. Also, it depends on how the US Dollar is doing against the Cayman dollar. We had lunch at Royal Palms - about $35.00 + tip for 2 salads and 2 drinks.

Restrooms were our big concern.
drew sailbum Posted December 10, 2010 #11 Share Posted December 10, 2010 ... it depends on how the US Dollar is doing against the Cayman dollar... . The exchange rate is fixed. As the US dollar has been losing value lately the Cayman dollar is right along for the ride. :( For any reasonable amount of sand with easy access to restroom facilities you'll have to go to some part of Seven Mile beach or Smith Cove.
